Finally! This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley within Sonoma County is the first wine released by our own winery, Olin Wines.
Our first release, this 2006 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, inky Cab that is packed with flavor. Expect smooth, supple tannins, black raspberry type fruit character, and brown sugar and a slight vanillan from the new French and American oak barrels.
If you are an existing MoreWine! customer you know our primary business is selling wine making supplies to both commercial wineries as well as home winemakers. When we started making wine we were obsessed with learning about grapes from different regions, different fermentation schedules, experimented with different yeasts, yeast health, macro-oxygenation, different oak, barrel versus tank, different kinds of barrels, and the list goes on and on.
As we started to make larger and larger batches it grew to the point that we decided that we should pursue a small commercial winery. We knew from lots of experience that winemaking is hard and if you want to make something very special you really need to focus on it. That is why we will make one or two wines a year from select vineyards, using new French Oak barrels and give that wine the ultimate in winemaking attention.
