Brehm Fruit - Chardonnay - White Salmon Vineyard, Columbia River Gorge, WA 2009 BF182A
From the personal vineyard of Peter Brehm comes a balanced chardonnay at a great price. The Columbia Gorge is quickly gaining a reputation for producing world class white wine. We could easily see why when we visited in the spring of 2010. The setting reminded us of visits to the Mosul region of Germany where the best Rieslings are grown. Steep mountains, well not as insanely steep as the Mosul, all sloping down to the moderating effects of the huge Columbia River. Chardonnay is grown at the lower elevations and Gewurztraminer and Riesling are grown at the higher elevations.
The vineyard is culmination of 30 years of Peter Brehm's experience working in the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma. he fell in love with this location and planted the frist grapes here in the early 90's. The yields are kept down to 3 tons per acre which definitely shows Peter's focus of quality over quantity.
