This kit allows you to distill the water and alcohol present in your beer or wine sample off of the rest of the components of the liquid. Once the distillation is complete, simply use the included, IRS standard conforming, Proof Hydrometer to measure the proof of the distillate. Divide this value by two and you'll have the alcohol %v/v of your sample. Alcohol %v/v determination by distillation is completely IRS and TTB approved.
Unlike many of our competitors, MoreWine! believes strongly in getting you working right out of the box. This kit is designed to do just that. The kit includes the still pot and condenser, along with an anti-foaming trap which keeps your distillate pure; a ring stand and clamps to support the still; an alcohol lamp and stand used to boil the sample; and all other reagents and hardware you might need.
The system is designed to allow you to run hoses of any length for the condenser so that the still can be as far from a sink as is necessary. The condenser hoses are set up with Quick Disconnects for easy storage and draining of the condenser itself. The kit even includes an adapter for the sink you are using as a source for the condenser. You will need to specify the number of feet of condenser tubing you wish to purchase along with the still, and you will need some denatured alcohol from the hardware store as fuel for the lamp.
