Description

The Acquamark cork line is a high quality colmated cork.  These corks have the ageable lifespan of Natural Cork, but are closer to the price of an agglomerated or overrun cork.

Colmated corks are Natural Corks that were not quite flawless enough to make a grade, but are then filled in with agglomerated pieces, resulting in an ageable, but economical cork.

Dimensions: 45mm x 24mm

I like the price and that they are basically real cork. I do wet them before corking which makes them go in better.

These #9 corks appear significantly larger in diameter than #8, will these work in standard wine bottles?
Michael Rettie on Nov 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these do work in standard wine bottles. I use a floor corker and standard bordeaux style bottles with these every year without problem. The only additional comment I would make is the quality of these corks has varied. Some batches appear to have had far more imperfections and thus more filler than other orders. That being said I have never had any leakage or other issues and they appear in fine condition when removed several years later.
Will these work for wine that will be bottled aged for 3 to 5 years?
crabjoe on Jan 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Dae,

These are excellent corks. I have used them both at home and at work and I would say they’re the best performing corks for the price. I’m not sure if they’re “rated” for 3 to 5 years, and the oldest bottles I have aged with these particular corks are only just past the 2 year mark, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use them for bottles intended to age for that long or longer even.

Best,

Bryan

Not a Fan.
I was a big fan of these corks because of their price. But after using them for a few years i am no longer a fan. They leave residue in my wine. There is white particulate that floats on the wine. It does not affect the flavor but is unsightly. Also, some of the corks are very soft. The corkscrew pulls out the center of the cork. Not good.

Would never buy these again
Bought 300 of these back in 2018 once and I'd estimate about 10% of the bottles corked with them are showing signs of cork taint - from mild to severe. At this day and age, that is unacceptable.

Will test corks next year!
They came too late to try this year. I’m eager to try next year. I only bought 100 as a test. We use over 700 corks each year. If I’m happy I will purchase a gross next time.

Do not use these corks
I just bottled 200 Liters of white wine with these freshly purchased corks and every bottle has little bits of cork floating in the wine. I've used the collimated corks before with no problem, but this is the first time using the aquamark corks. I am now considering reopening every bottle, filtering out the cork pieces, adding SO2 and rebottling the wine. My heart sinks thinking about it.

Affordable Alternative for Natural Cork
Aquamarine corks provides long term storage for my aging wines. After four years, these corks showed no signs of impending seepage when removed.

Good quality, easy to insert
Quality looks good. It was easy to insert the corks into standard bordeaux bottles with manual floor corker.
