Description

Our 1 gallon glass jar works great for holding small amounts of beer, wine or mead for aging, small batch fermentation, overflow storage and fermentation experiments.  Although it's really just a jar, some refer to it as a 1 gallon carboy when it is used for fermentation rather than serving.

Some Suggested Uses

  • Use to store excess wine when you press off and have more than you expected.
  • Ferment small batches of mead, sake, fruit wine or anything else that strikes your fancy!
  • Perform yeast experiments - split a batch of wine or beer into five 1 gal batches and ferment them with different yeast strains

Uses a #6 stopper.

Please Note: DOES NOT INCLUDE LID

Great for experimentation
Splitting a batch up between a few of these one gallon jars makes trying different things fun and you don't ruin an entire batch that way. Oak, flavorings, hops, fruit anything you can think of.

great for starters
I don't use for small batches, but some of those big beers (like the imperial saison i brewed a few weeks ago) will benefit from up to a 3L starter.

Great for Formulating Recipes!
When working on a new recipe, I often use 5 of these 1-gallon jugs as secondary fermentors to try out various dry hop combos and flavorings. Why wait for a whole brew cycle to make one adjustment to a new recipe when you can make 5 adjustments, pick the best result, and move on from there!

These are also great to have around for the occasional small batch of mead or wine or whatever.

Very Handy
These jars are a cheap way to experiment with your homebrew. They are for those of us who like to compare the effects of say, dry hopping with different hops, or adding different fruit flavors/ flavor combos, or trying the effects of different yeast strains on the same base beer. You can simply brew a regular 5 gal batch, pour it off to (5) 1 gallon jars, or some into a 3 gallon carboy and the rest into (2) 1 gallon jars (my go-to choice). So even if you don't get the best results in the world- it's only 1 gallon that you sacrificed, and hey- you learned something by doing it. And unless its contaminated, it's probably still good enough to drink as a "failed attempt." Better than bud light at it's best (which is done on purpose believe it or not!)
