I did my first beer in this and it fermented, but the air lock did not bubble. The beer seem to have been exposed to air and smelled very sour. I dumped the beer fearing it was bad. Any advice on how to ensure pressure releases through the air lock and not somewhere else? Yes, the top was on correctly.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Blake - It sounds like that there is a break in the seals somewhere. Make sure that all gaskets are sealing properly. Please give us a call or shoot us an email at info@moreflavor.com for additional assistance.

A Fantastic Fermenter for Future Fun.
There is really not much to say, except that this is money well spent and it does it all, for a very competitive price.
Well done SSBrewtech.

Almost five stars
Just arrived today. Had beer mashing as I was cleaning and putting together. Went back through the box looking for a missing part and it wasn't there. Went back to the instructions and found out the missing part was not included. I would suggest that SS increase the price of this unit by 50 cents and include the barbed hose fitting. I guess they expect you to rack into a bottling bucket and bottle from there. Kind of defeats the purpose of a conical. Racking arm very loose?

With the good comes some...not-as-good
I love my first Chronical so much that I decided to purchase a second one. Overall, these are great- all the conical benefits without the typical conical price. Being the proud owner of two now, I did notice a couple of slight design differences between my older one and this new one that are worth noting.
Awesome: The section of tubing between the tri-clover fitting and the back/fermenter side of each ball valve is now integrated into the valve itself rather than being threaded into the back, effectively removing two hiding places for bugs.
Meh: Unfortunately those sanitary gains are slightly offset by the fact that the thermowell is now weldless. The product description lists this correctly but the photos still show the welded version. It just means a little extra attention there when cleaning and sanitizing. This is obviously far short of a deal breaker.
In any other context these little design tweaks might seem trivial but if you're anything like me, your obsession with sanitation long ago quit being healthy.
Overall it still deserves five stars and I highly recommend it.

Good overall, small flaws
Overall this is a quality product for the price. No signs of rust after a year of use. Comes apart and cleans easily with minimal crevices to worry about.
The rubber under one of the legs arrived damaged but more beer sent a replacement immediately.
My only complaint with the vessel itself so far is that the racking arm O-rings are way too thin and soft and crimp over on each other, roll, etc. They are bad enough I could no longer insert the arm and had to buy new o rings from the local hardware store.
It's nice that the brew bucket lid works on this also if you need it to be lower profile for a lagering fridge/freezer.

Really nice piece
I have put two batches through the Chronical. It's a very nice conical, easy to use and easy to clean. Hooked my Co2 to push beer into my keg, only handled the beer to lift it into the Keezer... This makes brewing so much easier. Quality is good. I wish the racking tub inside as a bit longer as I left more beer in the cone then I wanted.

I'm going to buy one more and park all my carboys for ever.

Ss Brewtech 7 gal Chronical Conical
I have enjoyed weekly batches of been in my stainless conical. Just remember to clean any new equipment with PBW and then sanitize. This will remove any of the manufacturing and shipping oils. Brew like a pro: I would also recommend the FTSS temperature control for this bad boy. There are coil extenders you can purchase that will allow for smaller batches. I am now able to dial in my recopies with accuracy. I have one beer, "The Angry Abbott" that loves to pop the top off my plastic bucket. The locking lid prevents this from happening; additionally, the temp controller prevents the exothermic reaction that causes the lid to pop.

I am almost ready for my next purchase, the larger 1/2 barrel conical. You can stack these for space saving too.

Great product
I have used this fermenter twice now and really like it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was because I wan't able to pressurize it up to 5 psi like it said I could. Air leaks out the lid. I was still able to do a closed transfer but had to lift the fermenter up onto a table and then hold the lid down with my hands. I'm going to look for some clamps to hold the lid down tighter for future tranfers.
