Can this pump handle boiling wort for recirculation? Concerned with the plastic wet end parts.
Keith Rivera on Jun 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If the manual says this isn't for boiling temps or above, this should be fine for the job of wort recirculation - which it's made for. Wort temps range from 150 °F to 170 °F ( 66 °C - 77 °C). The boiling point of water is 212 °F (100 °C). Blichmann/Anvil says "The Anvil Brewing Pump is perfect for recirculating and transferring wort."
what is the allowable temperature range?
Anonymous S on May 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There is no info on the pump, website, operation & parts page. We just used it in our last brew, circulated the mash at 156 F with no issues at all, hope that helps, cheers!
Is there a pressure rating on this pump? For instance if I wanted to throttle the output of the pump to control flow. Thanks.
William Molyneux on Nov 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: the pump head is screwed on with butterfly hand tightened nuts and is made of plastic. I don't know manufacturers numbers but I would assume it's not terribly high tolerances.

Good for the value
I received this along with the Anvil Foundry brewing system. I have used this pump in 16 batches so far to recirculate wort during the mash, as well as during cooling and whirlpool. I don't use quick disconnects and have never felt the need to, but some people who do may find it hard with this model. I have never used any other brewing pump so I have nothing to compare it to, however it does the job exactly as described. I took away one star because the first time I used it, it struggled to pump wort back up into the mash, even with the flow limiter fully open. I tilted the pump over and back upright again and then it flowed just fine. Also, the flow limiter takes some fine-tuning to get right. I'll have it set to a nice slow flow rate to avoid a stuck mash and when I check on it 15 minutes later it seems to be flowing full speed again (with no change in the tightness of the flow limiter). All in all it seems like a good pump for the money but I have nothing else to compare it to.

Not a bad little pump for the price.
I use this pump to recirc the wort during the mash. It has no problem in performing this role. I wouldn’t expect it to do much outside of that. Haven’t had any issue with it and cleaning is super easy.

Pump
This pump is not powerful enough for anything thicker than water.
