Can I use this for 2.5 or 3 gal. batches?
Arash Mirhosseini on Mar 12, 2020
There's two different pics. If i order now will i get the controller on top or bottom.?
Joe Denkinger on Feb 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Joe - This product is currently on back order. When it returns to stock, I would certainly guess it will come as the new version.
What is the expected efficiency of this system without any modifications?
Michael Hutson on Jan 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I've done about 25 batches so far. I use the Brew in a Bag in the malt pipe and squeeze the bag after mashing. I grind the grain fine setting the grain mill using a credit card. With 7.0 to 7.25 gallons of water, 12-15 pounds of grain, doing a 60 minute no sparge single infusion mash at 152-155 degrees,, I am getting 75-78% efficiency pretty consistently.
Do I need to use mash grain bag?
Arash Mirhosseini on Mar 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, not at all. The grain basket that comes with the unit is awesome. I love my unit.
How long does it take from sparge to boil with 120V?
Brian on Apr 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Brian, it doesn't take much longer them my propane system. I would say 30 or so minutes.
Get Brewing! That is a great system!
What is the maximum grain bill for 10.5 gal. version? Can I brew barley wine with it?
Arash Mirhosseini on Dec 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: In this video they say 16lbs officially, but made barley wine with 20 lbs. It worked okay. It stuck two or three times, with rice hulls. https://youtu.be/plaATj7DcQc
Does it have the ability to do a delayed start? So you could set it up the night before to be ready in the morning.
Kevin Sinarle on Jan 14, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can set it for delayed start in hour increments. I routinely set it up the day before and set the timer to have hot water when I'm ready to brew.
Will the 240v set up work in the United States with a dryer 220v plug/extension cord?
Ryland Matthews on Oct 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes but you will need to change the cord end on foundry to the appropriate plug, if you search the internet/YouTube you see how to make an adapter cord that allows you to retain the existing 120 volt end which comes in handy if you ever want to use it elsewhere and only 120v is available, just dont forget to turn switch to 120v/240v on anvil. Good practice is to electrical tape the adapter cord to anvil plug as a reminder to always keep it attached to anvil and it's on 240v setting.
If I order without the pump does it still come with the return tube and perforated disc?
Evan Hegarty on Jan 11, 2022
BEST ANSWER: No that is part of the pump kit
Does anyone know what this means in the Anvil Foundry specifications?
"Linear Digital Power Control and Solid-State Switching"
Steven Stark on Jan 4, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It believe it just means the controls (temperature and power level) are digital while the on/off switch is a standard solid state switch.
What is the recommended min. grain bill for 10.5 gal. version?
Arash Mirhosseini on Mar 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Sayed, the minimum grain bill for the 10.5 gal system is 8 lbs.
How long is the power cord ?
Anthony C Butas on Jan 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 5 ft

A good inexpensive BIAB system
I bought this to replace my 120V Grainfather after it died after 6 yrs of use. I've only brewed twice on the Foundry, and both times at 120V. It takes a little longer to heat up than the GF, but not significantly. The separate recirc pump requires a second electrical outlet, which may be inconvenient for some brewers. In preparing for operating it on 220V I've watched some YouTube videos (recommended). Since I don't have 220V in my brewing area, I plan to use my dryer outlet and a home-built 220V extension cord. The cord, plug adapters, and in-line 220V GFI ended up costing me an additional $200, bringing the total pretty close to a new GF, but without the GF programmable controller. Once I figure out how to use the GF counterflow chiller on the Foundry (in place of the inefficient immersion chlller that comes with the Anvil), I think I'll have a great system.

220v sped up the brew day around 45min. Haven't hit over 70% yet in 4 brews but close. That could just be profile adjustments.

First use went like clockwork
After 40 brews on my older Foundry I decided to buy a new one. The redesigned malt pipe works well and is easy to clean. Mash efficiency was very good without a brew bag, and the recirculation and vorlauf were effective. The new method of hooking the malt pipe instead of a snap ring is easier, but may cause the recirculation disc to be a bit off level. I will look more closely at this issue in my next few brews. Overall, this is a very versatile brew system that works well right out of the box.

So Amazing
Pretty new at this...only just finished my first brew with it, but the simplicity of this and compact system really helps in my new Apartment lifestyle! We just sold the house and moved to an apartment, so decided to pull the trigger on changing my brewing methodology. After the first batch, I'm super excited about this...guessing it will stay that way the more I use it...

Makes beer as advertised
I just finished my first all-grain brew an hour ago. I made an English Ordinary Bitter. My OG was a little lower than I anticipated (70%). Hopefully I’ll get better with experience.
I used 240v, the unit heats up very quickly. The full malt pipe with 10lbs of grain is quite heavy. It wasn’t unmanageable, but it is heavy.

Fun system
I have wanted to move away from my three vessel tiered system with propane. I have only brewed with the Anvil once. Everything went well and it was much easier to clean up. Less heavy lifting and temperature control was very accurate. Mine is on 240v and the boil time was pretty quick.
