Description

Better Bottle is a name known in the home beer and winemaking for their quality products.  Plastic PET carboys are much safer than glass carboys; not only because they weigh less, but they will also not explode into shrapnel if dropped!  These are made from Virgin PET and manufactured in such a way that the molecules are tightly packed, and less susceptible to oxygen transfer, resulting in better wine and beer!

Aside from it's advantages over glass carboys, the Better Bottle is relatively impermeable to oxygen.  This means if your wine's or beers are destined for aging, this is a perfect choice for an aging vessel!  When using the Better Bottle and it's accessories, the transfer rate of oxygen is lower than that suggested for Micro-oxygenation, and insignificant when compared to the amount of oxygen transferred through other bottles and their stoppers.

Winemakers storing wine for long periods should use the optional Better Bottle PET closures available for this product. You will be interested to read the technical, but very informative .pdf attached this product in the documents tab.

lighter that the glass carboy and easier to handle. Have a 3 gallon already for 1/2 batch brews and need additional carboys.

Based on my own experience with Better Bottles and Vintage Shop carboys, better bottle carboys are better quality.

looks like a lighter, more economical option for a second fermentor

Love to see my fermenting and don't want to drop glass. Also, two of these fit in my fermentation chamber (chest freezer)

Love it!
Love it! Much easier to handle and clean. I also like the bump in the bottom which helps when transferring the prize and not the sediment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these, great product and great customer service from Morebeer!

Highly recommended!
I love my better bottle csrboys. First one lasted through 30 batches before I somehow managed to crack the base of the bottle. I have used glass carboys as well, the better bottle is MUCH easier to handle and I like the slightly bigger opening versus my glass carboys.

good carboy option
Works well and is very light. As has been mentioned, lifting it can suck back through airlock in to fermenter.

Best carboy for the money
With this year's bountiful harvest of fruit I needed a lot more capacity. These fit perfect into my arsenal!!

Good size for more wort
I liked the 5 gallon version as well. The 6 works nice when you have more wort (little over 5 gallons) when transferring over to the secondary.

Great product
I've used glass before and I have 2 of these now. I like them better, they feel safer and lighter. I have 25 gallons on tap and all of them went through better bottles at some stage. Strongly recommend.

I prefer the six gallon carboy over the five gallon. I believe the extra head space helps prevent blow overs.

Great product!
Used it as my primary with great results. Much better than a glass carboy and nice to see active fermentation compared to using a bucket. Cleaning is more difficult but certainly doable.

The bottom cracked.
This is my first time owning a better bottle brand plastic fermenter. After my first use, I was cleaning the fermenter. I'm not sure if there was suction between the wet floor or me turning it on its side that caused a crack in the bottom. I didn't notice any defining sound signifying something had happened and didn't notice a crack until I started rinsing it out. Either way, I was reasonably light-handed when turning it on its side to empty. This could be a fluke but I wouldn't expect it to cause a crack for how I handled it. I will be a little gun shy on a future buy of a better bottle.
