Description

A fun, unique yeast with a UK pedigree that emphasizes fresh malt flavor while producing fruity, citrus and floral flavors. Perfect for Pale Ales and IPA's.

Every batch is PCR tested to ensure contamination free yeast.

Dosage:
One sachet is enough to treat a 5–6 gallon batch. When calculating for larger batches, use at a rate of 2–3 grams per gallon of wort. We recommend rounding up by one full sachet rather than measuring out the yeast exactly.

Direct Pitch or Rehydrate:
NECTAR yeast is designed to be sprinkled directly onto the surface of your wort with no oxygenation required in the initial fermentation. Our aerobic growth process makes this possible by creating dry yeast with high viability and high sterol levels. NECTAR yeast is pre-loaded with essential nutrients to ensure a successful, complete fermentation. While not required, some brewers prefer to rehydrate yeast. To hydrate yeast, first, sanitize the yeast brick and scissors. Use 10 grams of sterilized tap water between 85-95°F (29-35°C) mixed with 0.25 grams of FermStart per gram of yeast. Sprinkle yeast on the water. Allow the slurry to stand undisturbed for 20 minutes, then swirl. Use small amounts of wort to adjust to within 10°F (6°C) of wort temperature before pitching. Ferment between 63-72°F (18-22°C).

Optimum Fermentation Temp: 63-72°F
Flocculation: Medium
Alcohol Tolerance: 12% ABV
Similar Strains: N/A
Attenuation: 75-80%
Gluten-free

We need more dry yeast to pick from. More variety like liquids. I live far away and with heat of travel I don't like to order liquid yeast.

How attenuative is the Nectar yeast? I see it says medium floc, but some yeasts don't necessarily follow attenuation with flocculation.
Jon Davison on Apr 25, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I left a review below before seeing your question. I've used this yeast 3 times in 3.5 bbl batches and the average attenuation between the 3 batches is 88%.
What brand name yeast is cellarscience nectar dry yeast similar too?
Robin G on Apr 22, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I find it to be similar to Safale 04. I have used it on fruity pale ales with good success.

No Success Yeast
I was intrigued by the description of the as a fruity, floral, citrusy English ale yeast so designed a beer to compliment these characteristic and brewed it. After 48 hours with no airlock activity or visible signs of fermentation after pitching the Nectar into a 1.048 ale, I pitched a packet of Safale S-04 which kicked off in a few hours. I purchased two to four of almost all the varieties of CellarScience yeast and have used the Belgian Ale, the Cali, and German lager yeasts to date with good results, but was highly disappointed in the Nectar in ability to start a quick, healthy fermenation... in fact no sign of fermenation at all after two days. I have one additional packet and may give it one more try, with a backup yeast if no fermenation in 24 hours. TBD.

Thank you for your review. Hopefully that second package of yours will work to start out a nice fermentation. We are sorry that first package didn't work for you. Please reach out to our customer service team and they can set you up with a replacement yeast of your choice.

Great for cider
Used this strain with Kirkland apple juice from Costco for a clean and quick cider. I did not add any nutrients, and the yeast fermented the juice to a semi-dry residual sweetness level with no off-aromas or flavors.

Fast and fruity
Fermented in a few days at 70*F and was an excellent choice for a cream ale and pale ale, plan to try in an IPA next, not disappointed.

Used in an American Pale Ale with Cascade & Citra hops
I direct pitched the Cellar Science Nectar dry yeast into 5.5 gallons. My OG was a bit low (1.045) but the beer finished at 1.008 FG. Fermentation was good (I use a 5 cubic foot chest freezer with an inkbird temp controller and ferment at 68 degrees f.) and I added 14g of cascade at 10 minutes and then 14g of Citra and 7g of Cascade at zero minutes and let these steep for 15 minutes and then added another 14g Citra and 7g Cascade and steeped these for another 15 minutes. I bittered the beer with German Merkur that I bought from Morebeer - very smooth bitterness, about 6 HBUs. The only beer I've had before with the Citra has been Kona's Big Wave Golden ale. Between the yeast and the Cascade/Citra, my beer has maybe 4 or 5 times more citrus flavor and is more bitter than the Kona. This yeast is a good choice for Pale Ales and IPAs that have citrus flavor producing hops. I will use again. The beer bottled conditioned fully in 14 days and two days later I'm on to about bottle number 6. I got 52 beers out of my 5.5 gallons with the usual apx half gallon of trub. I'm happy with Cellar Science and this yeast. Next time I'll increase the Citra additions to 21g and see how that goes, if it is too much or not. The yeast ferments as solidly as Fermentis S-04 or US-05. No off flavors.

I'm constantly impressed with CellarScience dry yeasts. I used their Cali mostly through 2021 in all kinds of recipes, I'm hooked on it. This Nectar yeast will be my go to for IPAs from now on. It has a nice deep, fruity flavor that really helps hops to shine.
