Stainless Spigot for the Speidel plastic fermenter. This is a great upgrade if you are looking to improve your fermenter with a sturdier spigot. Made from 304 stainless steel.
BEST ANSWER:Hi Ryan, we still recommend using 3/8'' tubing. If the tubing is too small and spigot is too large it's always helpful to soak the tip of the tubing in warm water to soften it up. If the tubing is too large and the spout is too small, you should secure the tubing with a hose clamp. Alternatively, I have heard of customers using 1/2'' tubing on this spigot.

The spigot that comes with the tank, compared to this stainless one, are garbage. this is what you need. I can't believe they don't supply these as standard. Worth the price
Could not effectively attach tubing to stock spigot -- lots of leaking & intrusion of air. 1/2 inch ID tubing fits nicely over spigot and with a clamp seals securely. Note for those who use the small 12 L fermenter -- tip of spigot is a bit lower than bottom of fermenter. You need to set the spigot at a 30 degree (or so) angle. Works fine though. Nicely machined and very solid.
The stock spigot is terrible. Unless it's wide open, it draws air. Not what you want when transferring from your fermenter to a keg or any other vessel. This SS spigot says 304 on it, is durable, well made and allows you to regulate the flow without fear of air seepage.
I bought 6 of these to attach to fermenters which are used as "casks for real ale". They work great and I recommend them if you use the fermenters as casks (See my review of 20/30L fermenters of this date). They don't leak even after months of storing beer in them.
They are not worth the money if you are going to use them with fermenters that are strictly fermenters. At least I wouldn't buy them because you don't need them on a fermenter.
SO REMEMBER! There are 2 reviews here. Use with cask and use with fermenter.
I purchased this spigot at the same time I got my 30L Speidel. I think it is an excellent upgrade and I have never used the original orange plastic spigot (NW10). The chrome spigot has worked perfectly for me and I now have 9 or 10 batches through my Speidel. I see there are some mixed reviews here about it, with the main complaint being that 3/8" tubing is loose and slips off. Simple fix, use the vinyl tubing not the silicon. My 3/8" silicon tubing is also loose and will slip off. It is also a little pricey, so I reserve it for my hot side transfers on brew day. But 3/8" vinyl tubing, at least the stuff I have (and it is marked 3/8" ID 1/2" OD) is tight on the bottom part of the spigot. No clamps needed. It is even a little hard to get on the spigot itself because it so tight. Once it is on it never comes off until I take it off. Hope this tip is a help to others who are having trouble.
The black handle can be unscrewed from the spigot, but the rest of the parts are welded, glued, or assembled in some other way so that they do not come apart. Without being able to clean these parts individually, I am nervous about infecting my beer due to old residue or bacteria and yeast sticking around. I've experienced sanitation problems in my Speidel fermenter that haven't manifested in my other fermenters (without spigots), so now I'm looking for another type of dispenser that's easier to clean thoroughly.
I have 2 Speidel fermenters and I purchased one of these to try out. The chrome spigot is a nice upgrade from the plastic ones. The only issue that I have is that the hose bard is neither long enough or wide enough. I use the silicon hoses and they slip off the chrome bard very easily... sometimes you have to literally hold it on the bard while you transfer beer from the fermenter. The standard plastic hoses might work better with this.
After one use the chrome plating is coming off and the screw that holds the lever to the spigot is rusted. I will be returning this product to the store and contacting the fermenter company directly. For the amount of money I paid for it I expected it to last a little bit longer than one use. I really hope this is not ruined the 30 gallons of beer I have brewed with this product
I love everything Speidel makes, (and I always have at least 2 fermenters bubbling), so I bought this for my 3.5 gallon transport tank. The short "schnozzle" isn't big enough to take a 1/2" ID silicone tube, so I use the 3/8" with a spiral hose clamp. I use it to bottle one or two swing tops, then fill the kegs. I have had two catastrophes, where the tube slides off while I am busy doing EVERYTHING AT ONCE. I think the NW10 (Orange Plastic) one fits my system better. I am a machinist, so I could make an extension, but I wanted my friends to know that (for me), the Orange one works well...
I've used these spigots three times now to transfer into a keg and all three times the hose has slipped off the spigot spilling beer everywhere. Even attaching the tubing with a hose clamp doesn't help as it still ends up slipping off about half way through transferring. I have to sit there holding the tube on the spigot while it transfers to make sure it doesn't spill.
Theses faucets don't rust. What happens is that the chrome plating disappears and what's left is brass. My concern, however, is how to thoroughly clean the valve and valve packing without disassembly. Soaking alone in PBW and Star San is not going to get to wort trapped in the valve packing.

Nice Upgrade
I bought a second Speidel fermenter and decided to try out this new spigot. Since the plastic ones don't really work with the tubing I use I have always just used the blank cap instead of the spigot. I just used my new tank with this spigot, and it's a great upgrade. Now I can use my 3/8" tubing and drain my beer into my priming tank without the use of my siphon. I plan on purchasing another so that I have one on each fermenter.
Does anyone know if the bottling wand that comes with several of the MoreBeer beginner kits would fit onto this spigot? The wand that I have does not fit onto the plastic spigot.
Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Get these!
I love the Spiedel tanks, but the plastic spigots are crummy. Tried these new ones and all my problems were solved. No leaking, no doubts, no tightening until I though it would crack, and the tubing fits on perfectly. The spout does not turn with the handle like the plastic ones do. I am so happy with these new spigots, I think they should dump the plastic ones and supply these with the tanks. People would be happier with the product. More expensive, definitely, but worth every penny for me, and they feel like they will last a lifetime.
I already love my Spiedel fermentors, but these spigots are a dramatic improvement on the ones that come stock. They're easier to clean, easier to fit a hose on the outlet, and they leave no doubt as to weather they are opened or closed. I highly recommend adding these on to your Spiedel order.
