will it work with 29mm caps?
Francisco Santana on Jan 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Buy the optional 29mm bell as this one is standard 26mm.
Should I be pulling down with enough force that it fully depresses and makes a load sound? I feel like it is going to break the bottles, but it seems like less force isn't going to get a good seal.
Nathan Lazur on Nov 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Nathan - Yes, you want to pull down with enough force so that it fully depresses and crimps the cap evenly around the bottle opening but enough force to leave an indent on the very top of the cap is a sign of too much pressure. It may feel as though that the bottle will break but standard bottles should withstand upwards of 200-300 PSI.
Will this work with 12oz "stubby" twist-off bottles?
BEST ANSWER: This product will not work with twist off bottles.
No matter what I try, never get a clicking sound. And bottle is stuck in capper .Have to pry it free. Using standard American bottles. ???
Chet Stockton on Dec 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I experienced similar behavior 1st time use. But next time, I carefully adjusted the height to insure that downward pressure on the lever actually completes the cap seal. It will resist, then release when crimping the cap. Cheers.
What material is the bell made from? Is it stainless steel?
Lawrence Muijlwijk on Apr 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It looks to be stainless.
I have bottled @ 700 bottles of beer and it is very sturdy and works great.
i'm thinking of buying another one while they still have them.
i Love this capper.
I cap 40 bottles that have the swing cap and use the swing cap for sealing the beer if i want to finish it the next day.
i also do various beer bottles that use caps.
this is not just a good capper for the money, I think it is a really high quality capper that you would pay 3 to 4 times as much to get the same quality.
I shopped really hard to find this capper and hoped for the best and i have to say i was not disappointed.
best of luck
Will it work with Stella Artois bottles and other bottles with a thicker neck?
Daniela Nettles on Jan 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Daniela, unlike a hand capper this product does not grab the neck of the bottle. the crimping takes place solely on the lip area, which is an bottling industry standard. please note that it is a good idea to fasten the capper to a solid, stable surface.

So much better than an emily capper
Nearly every batch I bottled with an emily (winged) capper resulted in one or two broken bottles. No more. I bought this as a replacement and have only used it once but I can tell its going to be much better. Feels sturdy and can be used on a counter top but I suspect that it would be even better bolted down.

As easy to use as possible.
I have bottles ranging from champagne all the way down to wee six ounce soda bottles and it works flawlessly and every single one. Ease of use is just that, easy peasy. I do recommend bolting it onto a bench, I used a 16x16x2 block, because it can be a little tipsy otherwise but it’s not necessary if you are careful.

Does the job, but not very satisfying to use.
This capper does the job, but not very satisfying to use. I have been using a two handled capper (butterfly style) for the last 25 batches (about 1200 bottles) and wanted to switch to this style capper because I would typically crush the cap seat of the bottle at least once per batch. I was also finding that when I later opened the bottle, the entire neck would break off, just below the cap. I assume that is due to the stress that the capper subjects the bottle to. I just bottled my latest batch and had no broken bottles or misplaced caps. The height adjustment works well allowing quick and easy height adjustment to accommodate different size bottles. I mounted the capper on a piece of 3/4 plywood, which made it quite stable. However, the reason it is not very satisfying to use is that it takes a lot of force to properly seat the cap. Enough so that I’m concerned that I might break the bottle— although none did. Beyond that, about every fifth cap gets stuck in the capper after it is crimped, requiring some wiggling of the bottle to remove the cap. Finally, the spring loaded plunger must be binding because when the capping pressure is released, then plunger snaps back making a startling and surprisingly loud noise. I tried to remedy that with some silicone spray, which seemed to help some, but did not eliminate the issue. I also wonder how long this capper will hold up. While the stand and lever arm are steel, the capper body is made of plastic. The capping operation applies a lot of stress to the body, but time will tell. While bottling this first batch, some black fragments came out of the crimping cup. It looks like those came out of the Center of the plunger inside the cup. Not clear if tat part was functional, though, as it did not appear to impact the operation.

I haven't used the capper on a batch of beer yet, but I did test it on a few bottles of varying sizes. I filled the bottles with a little soda water, capped, then shook them. No signs of leaks. The capper looks well-constructed and certainly more solid than the "Super Agata" press I had been using.

Works good, quicker than the hand one.
I like the magnetic head which holds the cap while you get the bottle ready. Seams robust, so believe it will last for quite a while. I like the adjustable head piece which makes working with an assorted size of bottles a non-issue.

Wear Earplugs and get towels
I'm not sure if I just ended up with a dud, but a few other reviewers attest to the same thing: The caps, when crimped onto the bottle, consistently get stuck in the capper. I have to proceed by pulling it out, which is eventually followed by a LOUD pop. This can't be by design. And the other day I shattered a bottle completely. Maybe it was a defect in the bottle. But the worry of breaking bottles is there nonetheless because you have to forcefully pull the stuck bottles out of the capper. I know that the amount of crimping is good because my bottles do carbonate, but for the instances where the bottles get stuck in the capper - I've tried to crimp them further to remove any sort of bottle cap flaring that may be getting lodged in the capper. And as a previous reviewer stated, if I proceed to crimp further I feel like I will shatter the bottle...again. and it still doesn't dislodge the bottle. I'm surprised how poor the performance is, since I'm just now using it for the first time - brand new. I'd be fine to admit that I just got a dud if that is indeed the case, but is my luck that bad?

Replace your two handed capper!
My two handed capper was getting loose, harder to align, less reliable on first squeeze. Bought this to solve all that and save time. Mission accomplished. Mounted it to a spare board 1x12x12”. Solid.
