Description

Nothing is more refreshing that having your own soda water on tap at home.  SodaStream units are great but filling up those tiny 1L bottles is a pain and those small CO2 cylinders run out fast and are expensive to swap.  Solve this problem once and for all with the Continuous Soda Carbonator Keg Reactor Solution.

KegLand has invented this really easy-to-use keg lid that attaches to a standard ball lock keg.
 
Setup:
  1. Position the keg inside your fridge or kegerator (ideally below 40°F).
  2. Attach your beverage draft line to the soda water out post.
  3. Attach your gas line to the gas-in post.
  4. Set your CO2 regulator to 30-50 psi, depending on how highly carbonated you like your soda water. We highly recommend using a check valve on your CO2 line.
  5. On first use, purge the air from the headspace of the keg.
  6. Connect the mains water to the water inlet post on the lid of the keg.

We recommend also using a check valve on your mains water line to prevent soda water from going back into your house mains. Depending on your mains water pressure, you may need to reduce it using the Duotight In-Line Regulator. For the Carbonator Keg Lid to work well, the mains water pressure should be 10-15 psi higher than your regulator set pressure (from Step 4).

That's it. This simple unit will give you continuous soda water connected to your mains water.

Please note: if you are using a CO2 regulator that uses a corny-style PRV, such as the KOMOS® regulator, you will need to swap out the standard Green PRV with the 0-100 psi Gray PRV so you can raise the pressure above 60 psi. Always check the pressure rating of your keg(s) before swapping the PRV.

I have a big thirsty family and we love soda. My arms get tired of making soda so this is will assist with the production of the carbonated water. This is a very healthy alternative of ingesting all that artificial sugar.

BEST ANSWER: The only problem would be the pressure- my understanding is that an RO system will drop 30-40% of the pressure of the source. For seltzer you need the water pressure going into the keg to be higher than the CO2 pressure, or else the water won’t flow in. So - if your home water pressure is like 40 psi, and then the RO drops it to 25 psi, then you will have to set your CO2 pressure to like 15-20psi, which won’t make very intense seltzer. I’m using the Waterdrop 15UC-UF filter and it tastes great. I mounted the filter in the fridge to get some pre-chilling of the water.
I just finished setting up my water carbonation system. 3 gallon keg. Water was already cold. Regulator set to 50psi. How long will it take for water to get really bubbly?

BEST ANSWER: This is not an absorption type of carbonator. So, if you fill the keg with water and then pressurize the keg and keep it at 36 degrees it will take a while to carbonate, the same as if you just had a regular lid. Of course, shaking the tank would provide for almost instant results. To get the full benefit of the continuous carbonator lid, on the initial fill you need to purge the tank several times with CO2, no water yet, then set the CO2 pressure to about 15 psi. Then attach the water line, minimum water pressure of about 45psi. Cold water, I use another prechilled tank which I pressurize, the carbonator tank will start to fill and by the end of the process I increase the carbonator tank pressure to 35 psi. As your prechilled water supply is depleted I have another tank of water cooling to hook up to the carbonator. With this method I have very good carbonation, as the continuous carbonator lid only allows in water greater than the CO2 pressure, only until the float is satisfied and stops the flow. The initial purge process only has to be done the first time, or anytime you choose to empty the carbonator tank. The water pressure has to be greater than the CO2 pressure, so if you had a supply that was at least 45psi. (For a 35psi CO2) and you had the means to prechill the water line to 36 degrees the secondary tank business I spoke about would not be necessary.
My home well water system pump is set to turn on at 30psi and turn off at 50psi. I can adjust to 60/40 if necessary. The instructions suggest 70psi water is required. Is anyone else using 50PIS supply water?

I've been using this lid for about a year and a half. I use a pressure reducing valve on my whole house, se around 45PSI. Before I installed the PRV, my native pressure was probably around 80PSI. Also no problems with this lid. I see the instructions here suggest running the water pressure higher than the CO2 pressure by about 10-15PSI. I believe my water and CO2 pressures are roughly the same right now.

I have check valves on both the water and the CO2 lines. As far as I can tell, I don't get any "fighting" between the two as they come into the keg, or out to the tap. It's a great device, and I think you'll be fine.
I have an already carbonated keg via a carb lid. Can I just swap in this lid and go from there?

I have little head space in my kegerator with my 5 gallon corny kegs. What is the height of the water inlet post mounted to the keg lid?

BEST ANSWER: The post sticks up just under 1 3/4 inches from the top surface of the lid. On my 5 gallon Firestone keg, the top of the post sticks up 0.4 inches beyond the handles

Works great with 50PSI Water supply
I purchased this to upgrade my garage fridge to a continuous carbonated water dispensor. Using the Kegland KL10955 / Morebeer KEG455 and a korny keg I have had fresh soda water for over a week. My home water pressure is 55PSI max and my well kicks on at 30PSI. I set the CO2 pressure to 30psi. Which provides a decent carbonation bite. No more purchasing cans of soda water. Just note that the 1/4" OD line works well with the check valves but are too small for the 1/4" barb ball lock fittings.

Works as intended, however they downgraded a part
Followed the directions, and the youtube video from kegland (Morebeer's overseas counterpart). Works as advertised and I'm happy about that. I previously had a soda stream that was tied into my co2 system, but this is a much cleaner setup and I don't have to deal with the soda stream bottles. My only gripe is the spraying mechanism. It was clearly pictured as being made of steel in both the online photo's and the video. It has now been replaced with a blue plastic version. This is really unfortunate as I expect it to eventually break (They actually provide you with a spare, so it seems to be prone to failure at some point), and its also threaded in, so if it does break, it will be a pain to try to extract. I would have happily paid an extra for this item if they kept the original steel sprayer, which likely would have never failed. They really should update the photo's and video to reflect this.

Nice piece, no instructions
Nice looking piece, I have not yet run the water line to my kegerator. My only complaint is that it came with zero instructions if any kind. Most of it is pretty obvious, but it came with a blue plastic tag attached and a spare tag. Might have to do with a high pressure release, not sure but it’d be nice to know.

Love it! Continuous seltzer with no effort!
This is great! Using a small Corny keg and this lid, I now have one tap on my Komos 4 tap kegger dedicated for fresh seltzer. It took a bit of tinkering to get the pressures right, but it now works perfectly, refilling and recarbonating as seltzer is poured.

Fantastic
This was very easy to install, the most difficult part was running a water line from the kitchen plumbing. It's been set up for about 2 months now and it is so nice not tracking how long it's been since I took the seltzer keg out to refill. The family was going through about 4 gallons a week so it's nice not dragging a keg through the kitchen to refill twice a week, or forget and have no seltzer on tap.
