Description

Carboys are great, but they have some issues: They require funnels to get liquid in, and cleaning brushes to clean up after.  They hold a decent volume, but all are a bit undersized for fermentation, and have no inherent measuring system.  Glass Carboys are breakable, while plastic carboys scratch with the first brush cleaning.  The Fermonster leaves all these problems behind!

These Fermenters are ported but do not come with a spigot. FE347 is the plastic spigot we recommend along with this fermenter.

These Fermonster Plastic Carboy Fermenters are made from heavy PET plastic, the same used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration. The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside. Glass carboys are fragile, and this is nothing like that.  The hefty plastic construction will hold up to brew day abuse.

These fermentors are completely air-tight; the bodies constructed of heavy, oxygen impervious P.E.T. plastic, and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below.

The bottleneck of 1 gallon glass carboys is really annoying. Fermonster makes it easier to add fruit bags to 1 gallon experimental batches

Is the hole already punched for the spigot? Or will I have to do that myself?
Preston Hunter Deason on Sep 30, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The hole is included.

One Gallon plastic Carboy
I have used the 7, 6, 5, 3 and one gallon carboy. They all work well. I have not had any issues with the screw on tops and or the O-Rings. The plastic is somewhat thin, and if you pick them up it squeezes in the sides a little bit. This can cause air movement into airlock. However, if you do not overfill them it will not put any wine into the airlock. Overall excellent product, but would like to see them a little thicker.

Not what I'd call heavy-duty; o-ring falls out of lid
1. The description says it's made from heavy PET, but the wall thickness is actually quite thin. The problem this causes is that when handling it once it's full of liquid, the sides push in, decreasing the volume of air inside. This causes pumping of the liquid in the airlock, causing concern that the airlock's function could be temporarily compromised.
2. The o-ring doesn't stay in the groove of the lid, so that putting on the lid requires that the o-ring be carefully placed on the rim of the fermenter, and then the lid even more carefully screwed on so as not to disturb the location of the o-ring until the lid is tight.
