The Fermonster is a brand new fermenter designed specifically for fermentation. We gave product feedback for over 2 years of development and we think they nailed the design. The large lid allows for easy filling and makes hop or oak additions a breeze. The smooth sides are fantastic for sanitization - no ribs or texture to collect yeast or bacteria.  The 6 gallon size is great for most fermentations, and the larger 7 gallon is available for even bigger beers. The punted bottom allows sediment to collect to the sides so that you can siphon liquid from the center.  Because they are made from virgin PET plastic they nearly unbreakable and a lot safer than similar glass carboys. Also notice the conical top which reduces surface area if you plan to store beer or wine long term.

Made from heavy PET plastic, the same material used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration.  Due to the thicknes of the material and the overall geometry the Fermonster does not require ribs or dimples for stability.  That results in a super smooth interior surface that reduces yeast and sediment buildup making it the easiest to clean, most sanitary PET carboy on the market.  The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside.  Fermonsters are easily moved by hand or consider using our Carboy Carrier for even greater ease of use.

These fermentors are completely air-tight and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below.

I love these fermenters!
These are a great replacement for the typical brew buckets. I would have to buy new brew buckets every year or so because they start to stink, get scratched easily, and even harbor off-flavors that have ruined subsequent batches of beer for me to the point where the beer was completely undrinkable. These fermonsters are easy to clean and the pet plastic doesn't scratch or harbor any smells. Advice for the lid: Don't try to remove the lid when transferring, it is a pain in the butt! Instead transfer by removing the bung. Once it is empty, the lid will be MUCH easier to remove.

Lids crack very easily and top warped
I've purchased 4 of these, all 4 of the lids cracked on the edges where the top of the carboy hits the gasket on the lid, not sure if its temperature sensitive when cold crashing. Had to epoxy them. Also the top of one the carboys warped and is oval now. It's cheap and affordable but I have to replace 3 lids and buy a brand new one.
Response from MoreFlavor
Hi Donovan - This is the first we have heard of such issues, perhaps they are cold sensitive. Please give us a call at 1-800-600-0033 or email us at info@moreflavor.com so that we can assist you. We are here to help. Cheers!

Very good product, but could use improvements/accessories.
I like this product. You can reach your arm inside to clean it, and it is smooth and easy to clean, unlike a competing product. I like that the O-ring is removable and replaceable, so you get a good seal and can clean and sanitize it well. It takes a little fussing to get the O-ring into the groove in the lid, but is possible with a little persistence. I've used it so far for three batches of beer, with good results.
The one problem is that it is hard to turn the lid, especially at the end of fermentation when there is apt to be some dried-up wort in the threads. My first attempt to deal with this was to put a very thin coat of vegetable oil on just the threads, carefully not extending to the O-ring. This helped some, but it's not ideal. My newer solution has been to make a "wrench", which I cut out of a piece of 3/4 inch plywood with a hole in the center that just fits over the lid, with grooves that engage the ridges on the lid, and a handle that sticks out about 3 inches. This seems to work well, but it was a tedious process to get it to fit right. I think the manufacturer should make something similar and include it with the fermenter as standard equipment. It could even be molded out of matching red plastic.
Another complaint I've seen is the lack of a harness. I've made a harness out of nylon cord, tying knots to hold it together. But again, a manufacturer could easily make and sell such an item. Actually, I've made similar harnesses for all of my fermenters, and leave them on permanently.
But other than these two issues, I think this is an excellent product, so much so that I've just bought a second one, this one with a spigot.
