The new and improved FermZilla in 27L brought to you by the critical key minds and engineers behind the original Fermentasaurus Gen 1. Although the original Fermentasaurus was revolutionary at the time of its conception, there are always areas to improve upon. This is partly due to the strong community of Fermentasaurus users who have helped push for an improved conical unitank.
New and Improved:
1. Larger Dump Valve - 3" butterfly dump valve is more resistant to clogging from large amounts of trub
2. Larger Opening - 4.75" top port opening allows for easier cleaning
3. Less Headspace - more appropriately sized for 5-gallon batches. Purging the headspace of oxygen is easier and more effective.

To rack into after primary fermentation, add sugar and carbonate followed by cold crashing and removal of yeast, then transfer to either 5 gallon keg or bottles. A little bit innovative I dare say. I will also use it for fermenting lagers under pressure at room temperature.

Ability to ferment under pressure and closed transfers. Dry hopping with the ability to purge the cup is nice feature. Do wish there was a pin lock option and that the pressure kit was actually available to order with the fermenter.

Can you rack directly to bottles from this unit?
Tom DePoto on Aug 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Tom, we don't see why not. You can always set up a racking cane to pull from the top and bottle from there. If you have CO2, you can use that to push your beer out using the pressure kit (item FE134).
so how would you take a hydro reading when under pressure?
Rick Runyan on May 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Rick - The floating dip tube is connected to the bev out post, so you can use a picnic tap or something of the like to take a sample.
Can you purge the Collection Container?
Ryan White on Jun 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ryan - Is purging referenced in regards to dry hopping? If so, take a look at this thread on the subject:
Can you install a test port like you can on the fast fermenter?

I would like to purchase (separately) two of the stainless ballocks like the ones that come with the pressure kit. Are these available and if so what is the cost? Thank you.

could mason jar be used as a container?
Alex Hellbach on Oct 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, it cannot. It is a unique size to itself. I didn’t realize this either when I bought it.
I'm thinking of using this for small batches (2-3 gal.). Will the excess headspace in this fermenter be okay for the beer?
Ben Geib on Sep 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It’s will be fine for 2-3 gallons, the previous generation(fermentasaurus) was a 9.25 gallons sized fermenter and was commonly used for 5 gallons batches. Granting you have a strong fermentation everything’s should be good.
Good luck!
Can I use my Fermentasaurus pressure kit with femzilla?same size lid?
Chris Robertson on Aug 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Chris, no as the lid of the Fermzilla is wider than the Fermtentasaurus. The lids on the Fermzilla's come fixed with the body connect threads and are covered by plastic caps. The Fermzilla Pressure Kit includes the body connects to install on the existing Fermzilla lid, the stainless float, and silicone dip tube.
Can I put boiling wort into this? At one point I thought I heard you can do this? Trying to save time on chilling.
Scott Childs on Aug 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Scott - the FermZilla's tank is made from PET and temperature rated to 122°F. However, a PEN replacement tank, which will withstand temperatures up to 212°F, is in development and will be available soon.
Does anyone know if there will be a thermowell option and CIP (clean in place) option as well?
Jack Carlos Slovenski on May 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Jack - Currently there is not an option for a thermowell and CIP ball for this fermenter.
will you do a funnel attachment for bottling that goes instead of the container?
Alex Hellbach on Oct 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I use a rubber hose with the cap on top that is used for the bubbler. The rubber grommet holds the hose tight enough to not leak when bottling.
Do you sell collection containers separate? I just broke mine because it's difficult to unscrew from bottom.

What Temp Control options are available for this? And when will they be available?

Best bang for the buck!
Much easier to use, you do have to use a bunch of silicone tape to get the fittings airtight and not over tighten the lid or collection jar. Great addition to the beer equipment collection!

Absolutely love this thing!
A true 5 star product. Don't even question buying the carbonation kit for it...just get it! Also, get yourself one of the spunding valves, a jumper line and an extra container for the bottom. You'll be brewing like the pros in the comfort of your own home brewery!

Works like a champ transferred underpressure to keg today. Did add a co2 connection down on the cup to purge o2 out when dumping sediment. I am going to purchase another one soon.
Love the idea that i can transfer under pressure.

Too good to be true I think
I am not happy this morning. I paid over $80 to get this thing shipped to my home in Southeast Alaska, thinking that it was still a lot cheaper than a pressure-able stainless fermenter. Aaaand . . . when I put sanitizer in it, fastened the lid and turned it upside down, it freely leaked out onto the floor. I've got lube on the o-rings and have tried different levels of tightness to no avail. After ordering mine in a rush of enthusiasm for a low price-point pressure fermenter I've read & viewed elsewhere about people having a hard time getting the Fermzilla to seal. I'd hoped I'd be lucky, but find I've got a fermenter that not only won't hold pressure, it won't even hold water under no pressure! Apparently there are fatter o-rings being produced, so I guess I'll search for how to ship more stuff up here to see if I can get this thing to work properly. Great idea, disappointing implementation . . .

Takes effort to prep this for fermenting under pressure...
Generally like the idea of it, but having a hell of a time getting it to seal correctly. I reached out to support for advice and they sent me the manual for it. I've tried a few different methods ensuring I don't overtighten the ring on lid, and also don't go crazy on the collection jar. I'm also using keg lube on all the o rings. The caps in the collection jar seem like a weak point but was able to get those to stop leaking by replacing them with ball lock fittings designed for soda bottles. Last thing left to figure out is the lid. I can't get it to seal no matter what I do. I finally decided to replace the o ring with a softer one with a thicker cross-section and am at least able to get it to seal to 16.5 PSI which should be adequate. Just wish the o rings that were shipped had a slightly larger cross-section to really seat tightly inside the neck of the fermenter.

Nice improvements
My first batch is still in the fermenter, but all the improvements work as advertised. The trub settled out nicely, no lleaks and better size for 5 gallon batches. Nothing else comes close in this price range.
