Compatible with any ball lock or pin lock homebrew keg. Sized for 5-gallon kegs, but can be shortened for use with 1.5 or 2.5-gallon kegs. Also compatible with the Torpedo Keg Depth Charge series 10 & 15 gallon kegs.

can this be used in a sankey keg?
Jacob Bryant Fleener on Nov 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No
Does the plastic tube impart any off flavors?
Cole Christian on Jul 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. Just like the hose the delivers the beer from keg to tap doesn’t either. I have had the tube stick to the side of the keg two times which then the ball does not float properly. I have them in 4 kegs. No more getting the crud off the bottom of the keg. I’ve never considered going back to the fixed tube.
Can this be used with any Corny keg that uses a dip tube?
Edmond Flores on Nov 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Edmond, correct! you'd just replace the existing dip tube with the 3" Stainless Dip Tube.
If used with a torpedo keg would this allow pouring with the keg in a horizontal orientation (laid “down” on a standard residential refrigerator shelf)?
benjamin johnston on Jun 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: As the other answers have noted there would be a bit more loss at the bottom of the keg since your float may be an inch or so off the bottom and when the keg is on its side the inch of vertical dead space would equate to a larger volume of beer than if the keg were upright. Otherwise this is not a problem at all. As another reply mentioned it would also be best to keep your gas fitting at the 12 o'clock position so you don't contaminate that.
Can you pressure fill the keg with this attached?
James Witterschein on Apr 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I’ve done it twice now without issue, so I’m going to say yes. Use low pressure for the transfer and it works fine.
What length of tubing is recommended for the Torpedo 6 gallon keg?
Ryan Steel on Nov 3, 2021
Torpedo Keg Buoy™ Floating Dip Tube
Torpedo Keg Buoy™ Floating Dip Tube
Torpedo Ball Lock Keg | 6 gal.
Torpedo Ball Lock Keg | 6 gal.
BEST ANSWER: I don't use 6 gal kegs, I use 5 gal and they have plenty of length for that. It's about 22" from the top of the tank at the beer outlet to the bottom of the tank. This dip tube lays on the bottom when empty so I would think if your tank is a little longer you would be fine. Note the description says it's 23.5" long tube so you should be able to calculate that against the dimension of your tank. If it isn't long enough you can always buy longer tubing at you beer store and make it your own length,
Cheers, Carl
Do you need to use a hose clamp to attach the tubing to the dip-tube?
Brendan ONeill on May 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No. It slips securely over the end of the dip tube. Not having it clamped makes it much easier to get on and off for cleaning and reduces possible contamination from the unnecessary hardware (clamp) inside the keg.
Can you put hot wort to ferment in the keg with this tube?
Jonathan Peter Lijoi on Aug 30, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn’t trust this with boiling temp. Maaaybe 150F and below?
I'm having problems cleaning the dip tube and tubing. I couldn't pull the silicon tube off the dip tube, and ended up having to cut it off. Anyone have any ideas?
Jason Matlof on May 15, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Wet your hands with sanitizer, use your fingernail to push and gently lift the edge of the silicone tubing. It will allow liquid to get in between and the silicone tubing will slip off of the dip tube. It works for me.
Can you use these Keg Buoy Floating Dip Tubes with the SS Brewtech Keg Washer?
William Carter on Nov 30, 2020

Ss Brewtech Keg WaSsher

BEST ANSWER: I would assume so...There is nothing that would prohibit this. The keg is cleaned upside down so the floating ball would rest just inside OR outside the keg. Just make sure the hose attached to the ball does not kink.
Do you have to cut silicone tube for 3 and 1 gallon kegs? Thanks.
FromLV L on Dec 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, want to make sure it’s just long enough to reach the bottom of the keg
Can I buy the 3” dip tube separately?
Ryan Schmich on Nov 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ryan, the dip tube is not sold separately.
I accidentally threw away the tubing that it came woth. What tubing should I use? I tried 9mm evabarrier but it’s too stiff to be as useful.
Blake Umphress on Mar 22, 2023
BEST ANSWER: You can get a piece of standard silicon tubing at Lowes or Home Depot that works fine. Take the buoy with you sio you get the correct size. Silicon is non-reactive in beer, so it is safe.
Will this work with the Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head for Sanke Kegs?

Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head for Sanke Kegs
Ball Lock Adapter Tapping Head for Sanke Kegs
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Once you de-spear the sanke keg, this will go onto it with the triclamp and you can connect ball locks to it. I also use mine with the floating dip tube, but that’s not required.
How much beer gets left in the keg? I love the idea of this, but only brew half batches. Sometimes I bottle half of that and put the remainder into a 5L keg, so I like to dispense as much as possible at the end. Does this leave more in the bottom of the keg, or is it similar to a standard dip tube? Thanks!
Rashelle Brown on Jul 14, 2023
BEST ANSWER: It does a great job getting almost all the beer out of the keg. All that is left is about one cup of yeast slurry on the bottom. I've been using these for a while and have never had any yeasty pours even on the last
Can you buy the tubing in longer lengths? I have a tall 15 gallon corny keg I'd like to use this for. Pretty sure the keg is taller than 23"
Justin W Thomas on Jun 2, 2022
BEST ANSWER: There's nothing special about the tubing, so you can use a longer one if needed.
Does anyone else have a problem removing the silicone tubing in order to get the dip tube out for cleaning after use?

Intake Tube too Light
These are great IF you add a stainless nut to weight down the intake tube AND you adjust the length perfectly. If you screw it up, you may lose several pints of beer.

Intake tube needs to be heavier.

Your nut should be too small to slide up the silicone tubing.

Tube floats above the beer
Like a few other people here, I can't get mine to actually position the dip tube below the surface of the beer; it floats with the tube sucking in CO2 from the headspace.

A must have
The floating dip tube is a must have. It lets you get your beer kegged up much sooner and you're always pulling the clearest beer first.

Loving it so far
Have only tried once, but I can say for sure that it gets your clearest beer first, depending on what you have on your keg it will get hazier when you are almost done.
Will give it a try on a fermenting vessel.

What a great conversion kit for my kegs! I can dispense from the same vessel that I dry hop. It will pour clean beer all the way until the end.

Works great for fermenting in a keg under pressure
Worked great when used to ferment an amber ale under pressure in a corny keg. Left only the yeast cake at the bottom of the keg.

Mixed feelings
This has worked great twice (all the way to the bottom). However, for one beer I had to twice open up and re-situate it for some reason as the pickup was not under the surface (keg was about 3/4 and 1/2 full at the time).

Get clear beer faster
drawing from the top of the keg gets me clear beer faster but also eliminates cloudiness from stirring up sediment if I shift a keg around. Was worried about having one more part to clean but it has proved to be trivial... worth it

Good once I fixed the device
The "weld" at the ball float broke on the first use. A little Liquid Weld fixed that. As others have noticed, the tubing supplied is too stiff and does not flex sufficiently with changing keg level. I replaced it with much more pliable tubing I have in my brewing supplies.

Once I made these adjustments, the device has been working well. However, there is not much that can be done to recover the last few inches of liquid after the ball reaches the bottom. Not a big deal, but it is a consideration.
