Are these standard 202 cans that will work on any (All-American/Oktober) machines?
Ryan Casey on Jul 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes they are but only difference is they are 500ml and a little taller then 16oz cans. As long as you can adjust the can height on the seamer you should be fine. I was able to seam 16oz cans from Oktober on the Cannular by adding beer but gaskets to adjust for the height.
Is there any guidance on hot food fill applications as described above? I can’t find any resources on this process.
Nick Kastner on Nov 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: At this time I do not have any guidance from the manufacturer about hot-fill applications. In general the process of hot-filling will make sure that the food and the container reach sanitary temperatures required for pasteurization. In my experience with canning beverages, as the liquid inside cools you will lose pressure inside the can and the can will get a soft/collapsed appearance and feel. This usually has no effect on the seal of the can and it will still be safe to drink/eat.

Good cans, arrived on time and with few to no dents. 2 gripes. First, as another reviewer stated, a small amount of liquid/foam shoots out when the can is opened. Not a huge deal but should be known. The other concern is a bit more serious if you plan on can conditioning with these full aperture lidded cans in particular. They don't hold pressure as well as the normal lids. I canned a 4 gallon batch using 4oz of dextrose as my priming sugar and had one explode on me (aperture lid tore completely off) and the others make a loud pop and the lid tears off with some decent force when opened normally. Not sure why it happens with these lids vs the regular lids but I'll be switching back with my next batch of cans for sure. If you have a beer gun you should be good to go.

awesome
First off I love the cannular machine, and these new lids make cracking open a beer even more satisfying. It's like a throwback to old school cans. Great product.

Excellent
Love the cans with the full aperture lids. Huge win here with the lids not requiring a seaming head change from regular 202 lids. The only issue (not really an issue) is that when you open this type of lid the pffffft sends a small amount of liquid flying.

Also, if a handful of cans arrive dented it's no issue. Simply reach into the can with your finger and press out the dent. The shipping box is fairly robust.

All in all this is a huge win. I will continue using these cans as long as they are for sale.

Love 'em
It's awesome to be able to can a homebrew. Great for travel. The full aperture allows for more aroma than the wide mouth.
