Description

Great for additions of pellet hops during the boil! The ultra-fine mesh fabric keeps a majority of hop material from entering your fermenter. It also works well for dry hopping in the keg, with pellet or whole hops, where it retains most all of the hop matter. Note: Dry hopping with pellets in a keg, using this bag, will throw a little matter into your beer, but it settles out pretty quickly and we have had good luck with this procedure. Perfect size for 1-4 ounces of pellets and 1-2 ounces of whole hops.

Bag size is 9 in. x 12 in, with hole size in mesh of approximatley 0.4-0.8 mm is size.

Can this bag be used to sieve yeast sediments after first fermentation in cider making?
Cherry Reppert on Nov 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Cherry - This product will not be able to preform that function. Good flocculation is the easiest way to "filter" yeast away from your product. This can be enhanced with cooling of the product, and finning agents such as isinglass (at least in beer).

So so
I bought two of these. One split up the side on the first use. The sewing came undone. The other one has been fine. Guess I need to invest in a hop spider.

Mesh Bag with Drawstring - 9 in. x 12 in.
The 12" length is great for reaching the swirling wort in a brew kettle, when hung from a hop spider.

Helps with the mess
Used for the first time and overall liked them. The drawstring needs a double bow to keep from coming undone during the boil, which I discovered the hard way and the reason for the 4 stars.
Prior to the reusable bags, I was using disposable cotton mesh hop bags.

This works great for what it is. The only problem I have is untying the knot to add more hops during brewing.

Response from MoreFlavor
Thank you for the great review. To get around this problem in the future you could use our Kettle Spider (AG434) to hot your hop back open in the center of your boil. Cheers!

Decent hop bags.
I picked up a few of these and they work well. There is much more flow and they don't soak up a ton of wort. For hop pellets these max out around 4oz, I had 6oz in one and it was a little too much. My older bags are headed for a viking style funeral to thank them for the years of service. These have replaced them. On to Valhalla!
