Description

Made from BPA free PET, this 3 gallon plastic carboy is a great fermenter for wine that won't affect the taste or smell of your wine. Makes a great secondary fermenter as well because of its negligable oxygen permeability. Cleaning is made easy by its straight smooth sides.

This fermenter comes with a hole 2 inches from the bottom to allow you to install a spigot to make racking much easier. You will also need the spigot installation tool (FE311A) to install the spigot.

When cleaning, do not use a carboy brush as the bristles will scratch platic carboys giving bacteria a place to hide and multiply. A #10 stopper fits well in the mouth of the carboy.

Item arrived damaged
Although this carboy was smashed when it arrived, I contacted the vendor and they promptly sent a replacement! Great customer service, I will be back.

Spigot wrench is available
There is a plastic hex wrench made specifically for placement of the gasket and holding the nut while affixing the spigot. This wrench readily fits through the opening and is long enough to handle the three, five and six gallon carboys.

Handy product but.....
This size jug is very handy for doing 6lb meads. However, the spigot was not installed, and no instructions on how to tighten the nut inside the jug since the opening is too narrow for one's hand, and too deep for any conventional tool. Using various long lengths of wood, I was able to put enough pressure against the nut inside to effectively tighten the spigot so the seal wouldn't leak. Also the description does not mention the size of stopper needed for holding an airlock.

Hello, thank you for your feedback! We offer a spigot wrench for those hard to reach areas in a carboy (item: FE311A). Also, a #10 stopper or 5 gallon carboy hood will work for this carboy.
