I did buy the one that is recommended for my 20-gallon SS kettle. However, it is very difficult to position it correctly and the gasket falls off almost every time leaving you with a stuck sparge. I'm still looking into how to solve my problem. The company tried to help but we never got a resolution (other than to return it and I decided to keep it). I may add "feet" to the bottom to keep the grains above the spigot drain level (which works well in my old 15-gallon) mash tun.

BEST ANSWER:Not sure what a cone is but as long as you run a grain bag and Keep the grains from plugging the holes you can get the beer to circulate..... mind you have it have a pump they will handle the various flow ratios in to ( if it happens ) a vacuum.....

Yes, it probably would work for that, but I'd be very concerned about clogging it when the cones settle on top of it. If you haven't tried something like a hop spider, I'd recommend looking into that.
Hop Spider | Mesh Hop Filter | Adjustable Kettle Hanger | 0.4 mm Aperture | Stainless Steel
I actually boil in a separate kettle because I feel you would pick up everything you would typically not want to pick up if you did a whirlpool with this false bottom.
Can this be used as a hop filter during the boil? Another false bottom i looked at mentioned interference with the convection currents and risk scorching.
This false bottom works as advertised--with the gasket, it fits snugly in the 10 gallon kettle and limits the amount of grain particles that make it to the wort. If using with the new TC kettle, just extend the outlet tube an inch or so with some 3/8" silicone tubing. With the first use, it produced the cleanest wort I've ever had in the brew kettle.
