Will the valve release pressure automatically at 30 psi or does it only release pressure manually?
david feldman on Apr 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: In the fully closed/locked position it will open automatically at 30 psi. You can adjust the maximum pressure as you loosen the cap at the end of the valve. It is a simple mechanism where pressure pushes against a spring inside the unit. All the way tight the spring has the most resistance (30psi) and as you loosen it the spring applies less and less pressure to balance it.

Not great, but no worse than anything else
This PRV suffers from the same problems as most others. It uses a cheap spring to create tension against the pressure flowing into it. This make it so you'll never be able to dial in the pressure exactly where you want it. If you fiddle with it for a while you can get it "in the neighborhood." But this is no worse than any other adjustable PRV. My advice would be to find the cheapest one and buy that because all the spring tension ones seem to work about the same.

Well made, quite temperamental at very low psi
High quality however very temperamental at low PSI ( 5-10 psi but I have not verified.
