Description

The Tapcooler Counter Pressure Bottle Filler is the #1 way to fill bottles of your homebrew, directly from your kegging system. No more messing with alternate liquid lines or hard to assemble contraptions. Just fit the Tapcooler into any forward sealing faucet (i.e. Perlick, Intertap/Ultratap/Vent-Matic, etc..), hook up a CO2 line, and you're good to go. Fill bottles for a competition, or just fill a couple take home bottles for your friends. The Tapcooler is quick and easy to use, and will help maintain the flavor, aroma, and carbonation level of your beer so it tastes the same out of the bottle as it would out of the tap.

For starters, a counter pressure bottle filler is better than most bottling solutions, as the bottle is under pressure while the carbonated beer flows in. Because the interior of the bottle is pressurized there is minimal loss of the CO2 in solution.

The Tapcooler solution improves upon the standard counter pressure filler, as it plugs directly into your draft system faucet (tap). Most solutions require you to hook up a separate liquid line, which is not something standard draft systems have setup and requires additional prep (i.e. more time). With the Tapcooler, you can have it setup and ready to go in less than a minute! The Tapcooler design is also advantageous because after you are done filling the bottle, it stays in place hooked up to your faucet vs. other fillers require you to set aside and pick back up again for the next bottle.

Connecting your CO2 line is also a snap. You can either hook up directly with a 3/16 in. push-fit line, or connect your line to the included barb fitting. Optionally, you can purchase the gas ball lock adapter, which gives you the ability to attach a gas (gray) disconnect directly to the filler unit. This optional accessory is a must have in our book!

With the Tapcooler design, your beer and CO2 are filled from the bottom of the bottle through the telescoping bottle connection tube. First CO2 flows down into the bottom of the bottle to flush from the bottom up. Next you open the tap and beer flows down the same tube, filling from the bottom up. The result is a more effective purging of oxygen and little to no foam during the filling process

The telescoping bottle connection tube allows you to fill bottles as small as 4.5 in. tall up to 12.5 in. You can fill taller bottles with the Tapcooler, but the tube will not reach the bottom of the bottle, which can lead to some splashing. When filling large mouth containers, a bottle stopper of suitable size and with a 9 mm hole may be used.

The filler features a push button CO2 purge valve, which allows you to purge the bottle of oxygen before & after filling. It also includes an adjustable pressure relief valve, giving you the ability to change the filling speed. The pressure relief valve also acts as an overflow port for excess beer/foam to escape when filling.

One of our most favorite features of the Tapcooler, is that is super easy to clean. Cleaning other bottle fillers can be a chore and take lots of time. The Tapcooler comes apart easily and allows you to clean all parts effectively and easily after each use.

All metal parts that come into contact with your beer, are made of stainless steel (SS304). The barb and ball lock CO2 adapters are made of aluminum.

Lastly, the Tapcooler comes chock full of optional accessories, which will adapt your filler perfectly to your setup. See the related parts section below for list of them!

Forward-Sealing Faucet Compatibility
Tapcooler fits Intertap, Nukatap, Ultratap, Vent-Matic, and Perlick 600 series faucets. These fillers can be converted to fit Perlick 500 series with the optional tap connector. Cannot be used with ventilated beer taps, i.e. non-forward sealing beer taps.

  • Hooks up directly to any forward sealing faucet for quick and easy use.
  • Quick setup and easy maintenance.
  • Perfect for bottling for competitions, sending bottles home with friends, or just to have some bottles on the go!
  • A range of accessories are offered for more range and easier use!
  • Purge bottles with CO2 before and after filling for longer lasting beer!
  • Pressure relief valve allows for control over filling speed and allows excess foam to escape for the perfect pour every time!
  • Stainless Steel design
  • Easy to use and clean!

I only have one CO2 line off of my regulator. Can I take the C02 line off of my keg and onto the Tapcooler, or do I need a second line for this to work?
Micky B. on Jul 27, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Personally, I added a T just after the regulator. Then I found I don't use it. You can fill just fine without even hooking up the CO2 input to the Tapcooler. Thought experiment: Assume bottle is 100% full of oxygen. As the beer fills, this will displace the oxygen. Between the time you remove the Tapcooler from the bottle and actually seal the cap, more than enough CO2 will have been released from the beer to displace any remaining O2 in the neck.

So what is the reason for the Tapcooler? The counterpressure filling. Keeps foaming to a minimum and releases as little carbonation as possible.
Can the tapcooler be boiled?
dustin striplin on Jul 20, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I wanted to use this for canning both clean and funky beer and I asked the company if it could be pressure cooked and they said some of the components wouldn't handle it. Not sure about being boiled though, I would reach out to them directly.

Can CP Filling for All! - PT 1!
We got the Tapcooler solely because of the canning station upgrade (well worth it - see my other review). Some reviewers have pigeon holed this CP filler as secondary or not good enough for long term bottle / can storage. They are wrong. It's small form factor is deceiving - it's just well engineered, not compromised & second tier. Paired with the keg adapter and the can upgrade, I have less waste, less foam, and c=more consistent fills than I ever had with CP fillers 3x more expensive. Whether you are a nano operation or a homebrewer, this s a surprisingly stellar piece of gear in spite of it's accessible price point and smaller form factor.

Works great! Lacks instructions.
I used this bottle filler for the first time this past weekend to fill 2 bottles from my keezer. I thought I knew how to use it, but the liquid stopped filling and I kept adjusting the release valve on the side but it didn't help. I eventually got it to work by just pulling the bottle off the silicone stopper on the top to allow the pressure to escape. After watching multiple YouTube videos, it looks like the release valve on the side has to be unscrewed way more than I was trying. All that being said - I was able to fill 2 bottles pretty easily and quickly. I just wish there were instructions actually included or common issues people run into. I bought the ball lock adapter which I would recommend to easily connect your gas to the side. This will definitely be my go-to method of filling bottles from the keg. No more bottle conditioning!

Great but not perfect
This beats the heck out of a beer gun! It’s so much easier to use and (more importantly) clean up and store.

There are a few caveats:

1. There’s a small learning curve to this so plan to get sprayed in the face with beer the first time you use it. There’s a bunch of YouTube videos on how to use it. Watch them first.

2. This is the reason for the one star deduction. The silicone stopper is NOT compatible with growlers (it’s too small), and the shaft is just a little too narrow to fit in a drilled stopper. You’ll need to drill a hole in an undrilled stopper or wrap some electrical tape around the shaft of the bottle filler to get a tight seal. I reached out to tapcooler about this, and they said they’re working on this issue.

Clean up is SUPER easy. There aren’t many parts, and it is really simple to disassemble.

Get one!
This filler puts my beer gun to shame. 4 seconds to install! My only suggestion is to get the co2 ball lock adapter and the drain tube.

The pinnacle of keg-based bottling
If you've been homebrewing for a while, chances are you keg most of your beer. And unless you're a real freak, chances are you don't bottle off the majority of each keg. If, then, you're like me, and keg your beer but would like to pull a bottle or three every once in a while for yourself and others, grab this thing.

First of all, it works great. The seal isn't finnicky (you just have to hold with moderate pressure), and the bleed valve works. It's simple. With the ball lock connector, purging is also crazy simple - it's a single button press.

Second, it's insanely easy to setup and clean. Since it's basically just a straw, you could get away with rinsing it with water before and after and be done. Setup is as easy as extending the dip tube, sanitizing it, and "plugging it in" to your draft system. Tear down is, again, as simple as removing and rinsing it. Boom.

And since it's counterpressure, the quality is somewhat better than a Blichmann beer gun, and the ability to upgrade it to a can filler (!) makes it far and away the best bottle filler available today

Neat, tidy and straightforward to use bottle filler
I used to use a Beer Gun for filling bottles off my kegs but this has quickly been replaced by this device. I have Intertap faucets on my Keezer. This device simply inserts in to the tap. Supplying CO2 is easy and the operation is very simple. Push button bottle purge followed by opening the tap and watching your beer flow in nice and steady. Took a couple of bottles to get the pressure relief device set right but after that it was flawless. Beer loss is minimal.
Only critique I have is the grommet for releasing the CO2 line so you can clean the device is small. It works but if you have fat fingers it will be challenging :-)
Overall I am delighted with the simplicity and cleanliness of this device. No more beer guns for me.
