How long is this thermometer? from TC to tip? Will it fit into a 1.5" TC instrument tee?

BEST ANSWER: From TC to tip it is about 3.5 inches or so. It depends on how long the instrument tee is.

Is this a sanitary fitting, i.e. no tape or threads on the inside?

BEST ANSWER: There is no tape or threads on the inside. The thermometer has a flange to fit with a tri-clamp fitting. The only thing exposed to the contents being measured would be the tri-clamp gasket.

This connects to TC fitting, so you put a silicone gasket on the kettle side, put this on there, and wrap a clamp around it. No threads or tape involved if the kettle side is welded. Note that if you don't have a kettle-side fitting, you can't use this.

This is a Tri-Clamp fitting, so no threads, therefore no thread tape. You will need a TC gasket and clamp to install it though.

Yes there is no tape or threads on the inside, only a stainless steel flange and silicone gasket for the tri clamp.

This is a sanitary fitting once you use the gasket and TC clamp. The probe sticks directly out of the TC plug.

Yes, this item uses a gasket for the seal and a triclamp to hold it together. No threads.

Is this compatible with the 8.5 gallon brew kettle that comes with the premium homebrew kit? If so can someone explain how to install it?

BEST ANSWER: Hey Joel,

No, the 8.5 gallon homebrew kit doesn’t have A tri clamp (TC). You’d have to buy a thermometer with threads.
