WLP775 Cider - White Labs Yeast

THIS ITEM IS ON BACKORDER
Item currently out of stock
Description

The all-time popular, classic cider yeast. Ferments dry, but retains the flavor from apples. Sulfur is produced during fermentation, but will disappear in first two weeks of aging. Can also be used for wine and high-gravity beers.

Attenuation: >80%
Flocculation: Medium
Fermentation Temperature: 68-75F

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

great hard cider yeast
have used several times on 5 gals of home pressed cider - steady fermentation for several weeks, typically primed and bottled as the batch starts to clear - maintains flavor without drying out as much as a champagne yeast.

UH, YEP. THIS IS THE ONE.
Easy to use, tastes great. I am only a novice trying to make an English style cider from the apples in my yard. Used this for primary fermentation and, so far, it tastes GREAT. Sixteen weeks on secondary fermentation, then added [lesser amount] of this with priming dextrose for bottling. I am thinking it's gonna ROCK.

Great Sucess At Making A Tasty, Dry Cider
I've been dabbling in making hard cider for two years, using wine yeast and getting inconsistent, crappy results. My first batch with this yeast was a huge success. I gave some to a friend of mine who loves dry cider, and she told me she really enjoyed the batch I gave her. My batch came out dry, flavorful and nicely carbonated. I'm not using any other yeast!

My favorite cider yeast
We've been using this commercially for over a year. It beat 11 other yeasts in our taste tests. It's one of the few yeasts that keeps a nice apple flavor in the finished product. The stats say 70-75 degrees but I think that's for fastest ferment. We ferment at 62 and get an even better flavor. I've pitched this into 38 degree cider and it still came alive and worked as the temp rose to room temp. It can sometimes give a sulfur smell during early fermentation, but I've never had it carry over into the final product. Go 775! Check the White Labs website for a nice homebrew club recipe from Maine using a bourbon barrel and brown sugar and 775.
