Description

Cellar Craft's Showcase Series red wine kits include a huge 18L of varietal juice and concentrate! Additionally, Cellar Craft is the only kit manufacturer who includes a crushed skin pack made from over 12lb of entirely new, fresh, never-processed skins that come from the same harvest lot as the juice in your kit. These skins have more tannin and flavor to impart in the wine and are 100% true to the varietal that you're making. This unique practice in the wine kit industry may cost a little more to produce, but we think you'll agree that the results are well worth it!

Like other kits on the market, Cellar Craft's Showcase Series red wine kits come with all the ingredients you'll need to make a great wine out of the box. However, we encourage you to also experiment with different yeast strains and oak styles to create a wine that is exactly what you're looking for and truly unique.

While technically ready to bottle and drink in 6 weeks, Cellar Craft recommends aging these wines for 1 year or more to see full development of the wine's character. Choose to age in the carboy if you want the opportunity to play around with acidity and finishing tannins later, or age in the bottle to see what you get straight from the manufacturer. Just be careful - we all know how hard it is to keep your hands off once the wine's in the bottle!

Makes 6 gallons, or 2 cases, of finished wine

Cellar Craft's Description

Winner of 8 medals in 2008!
Amarone is a legendary, assertive wine of the Valpolicella area in Italy. Unique and distinctive character comes from the addition of dried grapes during fermentation. The resulting depth is likened to Port or Late Harvest wines but without the sweetness. The wine has a foundation of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes from the Veneto region. The must is fermented on crushed varietal grapes from over 10 pounds of virgin fruit plus 4 pounds of whole red wine grapes which have been sun-dried to concentrated perfection. A double dose of un-toasted oak is used to balance the wine and, with aging, tame the natural tannins. The wine is full-bodied, deep garnet colour and richly dry. Notes of plum, sour cherry, raspberry and vanilla gradually marry with anise, bitter chocolate, coffee, tobacco, leather and fig tones that develop with age. Long, lingering finish and alcohol that should exceed 15%. Try to give this wine at least 1 year of aging to enjoy the truly remarkable Amarone experience.

I love Amarone wines, but cannot afford them! This is a great kit that makes my favorite wine at a price I can afford.

I like Amaroe but I can be very expensive, so I wanted to try this.

Very promising Amarone
This is a very promising , full bodied Amarone style wine. The grape skin pack makes things a bit messy but more than worth it. I tried a sneak taste while bottling this wine and conclude that given eight or nine months in the bottle it will prove to be the best wine I’ve ever made. I plan to purchase another kit of the same wine next fall.

I buy two kits each year; I wouldn't do that unless the Cellar Craft Showcase series makes the best Amarone I can get in the USA, as good at the $100 per bottle wine that so amazed me at a vineyard outside Verona, Italy.

Cellarcraft stunner
In my opinion, Cellarcraft wine kits, with the grape pack that lets you have fermentation on the grape solids, give you the best quality wine you can produce at home. More expensive than other kits, but you get what you pay for. Still comes out to only about six bucks a bottle. Cheap for the quality of wine you produce.

Cellar Craft Showcase Amarone
The order just placed will be the fourth iteration of this kit. The final product has always been as delightful as the first taste of Amarone in Verona Italy five years ago. Nothing I have brewed or tasted has been as exciting as the intensity and subtleties of this kit, and the dark color and legs of a poured glass are incomparable. Only one problem: Italy requires five years aging before placing this wine for sale. I have yet to be able to wait that long.
