Description

Hand-made by local artists right near our headquarters in Berkeley, California. This is our best thief by far and is our staff favorite.  You can just feel the quality and craftsmanship of the piece when you pick it up.  It has that kind of weight to it.  Tested in our wine room and tested in the field.  You cannot go wrong with this piece whether you are a pro wine maker or a home winemaker who makes professional quality wine.

We have been selling this same thief for years now, and it's ideal for sampling wine from glass carboys or barrels. Taking a sample out of a barrel just feels right with this tool. This hand-blown glass wine thief holds approximately 50 ml of liquid -- the perfect amount for sampling and using for testing.

This is the thief you dream about!

Approximate dimensions 3/4 in. diameter x 1 ft. long before the bend.

To fit in my glass carboy. The one I originally bought is for barrels and wouldn’t fit through carboy neck.

I've tried several plastic wine thieves over the years and found them lacking. Finally felt I could afford to splash out on one of these when a friend showed me how well her glass thief worked.

Easy to handle
Not bulky, lite and easy to handle. My only negative is that it requires two dips into a barrel to pull a proper tasting amount of wine. Reason for four and not five stars.

top notch thief
It is as described: Very well made, feels great in the hand, functions flawlessly. I'm a bit worried about breaking it every time I use it or store it, wonder whether in the future it could come with a protective sleeve or something. But it's a great product.

Worth the investment.
Beautiful and feels good in your hand. Definitely worth the investment over the economy which I also use and love. Quality upgrade is obvious.

Pricey, yes. Worth it, absolutely!
This is a well made glass thief.
It will still obviously break if banged around enough or misused, but it has enough thickness to it that it feels like it will outlast many other glass thieves used.
The bend is perfect, allowing me to take carboy samples even from those that are in the back row and less accessible under a shelf about 6" above.
Placing my thumb over the hole in the end allows me to draw enough wine (doing this two times) in order to do all my tasting and chemistry mesurement needs. It rarely leaks wine if my thumb is pressed firmly over the end.

Whenever it might be that I make the mistake of breaking this one, I will deffinately be back to buy another and will recommend this to any and all who ask.

I believe this are hand made in California (East Bay).

Do I wish it cost less, yes. But I guess the ole' saying goes here...you get what you pay for.

Thanks for such a great product!

Wine thief for carboys and other small radius openings
This is a companion wine thief for our barrel tasting version. Its easy to clean and won't trap water, etc between tastings. It's not overly fragile.
