Description

Chill your wort quickly and efficiently without spending a fortune when you purchase this 40 Plate Wort Chiller. This popular addition to your home brewing system promises to cool your wort to the perfect low temperature to get the best cold break possible, making your beer taste better without going over budget.

This plate chiller is equipped with a 1/2" MPT wort in and out, as well as a 3/4" male garden hose thread water in and out. It measures approximately 8.25 inches long, 4 inches high and 3 inches wide, making it incredibly compact yet still very effective.

We recommend back flushing your plate chillers immediately after every use to help ensure that they're clean prior to brewing the next batch. You may also want to run boiling water through the wort plates prior to use to make sure that any bacteria are killed.

Heard good things about these and since I just sold my Grainfather, the counterflow chiller is gone ;)

It looks like it is equivalent or better than the Blichmann model (ports are labeled, for one thing).

It is a replacement for the same chiller we bought from more beer 3 years ago. Old chiller still works, but worried it is a source of infection.

Because we´re crafting beer and this product adjusts to our needs.

Skeptical... But surprised!
Having owned a hose-based counterflow chiller, I didn't know what to expect... And it delivers!

Works as advertised
Drops wort from boil to 75 degrees 5 gallons in 15-20 minutes. If you have a pump it is easier to clear recirculating cleaner through it.

Like it better than my immersion chiller
Outperformed by big copper immersion chiller by about 10 minutes of cooling time to get down to pitch temp. Both recirculating back into BK with a whirl pool arm and pump.

Love that it doesn't take up space in BK so I can get accurate post-boil wort volume.

I'm not worried I missed cleaning some verdigris like on my copper chiller. Or left over hop residue that I missed.

Much smaller footprint, great for brewing inside. I usually leave in a bucket during brew day for any spills from QDs.

Super easy to clean, pre and post brew day.

First impression is not great!
Out of the box feels like a cheap tin toy, has no instructions and no sticker marking water in/out and wort in/out, I have never used a plate chiller so I wouldn't know.
The bottom edges a super sharp. I have seen other plate chillers and they are finished much better, and feel much heavier.
We will see how it performs

Love it!
I gave it a test run to see if I needed a pre-chiller. Using Florida ground water It dropped 200F water to around 89F. Didn't think to check my ground water temp. I'm guessing mid 70s?

After whirlpool I took 185 degrees to 70 degrees in a single pass directly into fermenter... This one is a no-brainer!
