Description

Our .5 micron carb stone is ideal to force carbonate your kegged beer, or as an aeration stone prior to fermentation. The barb is 1/4" OD.

To Use: Attach 2 feet of 1/4" tubing from the "gas in" dip tube inside the keg. (Tubing not included). You set your desired pressure on the regulator and gas gets emitted through the .5 micron stainless stone. The bubbles rise through the beer creating so much surface area contact between gas and liquid that the absorption rate is very rapid. This is very similiar to how beer is carbonated in breweries.

316 Stainless
1/2" diameter. Stone is 1" in length. Overall length is 1 7/8"

Sanitizing your Diffusion Stone:

To properly sanitize your stones, we recommend you run it in a sanitized solution for 5 minutes. If the stone becomes clogged we recommend boiling the stone for 1-3 minutes to help break down anything within it.

If boiling is not an option, we recommend soaking in Star San. Star San will remove a majority of surface contamination/bacteria, but will not sanitize the interior of the stone which may or may not be contaminated.

Please note that you do not want to touch the stainless stone portion with your hands. The oils on your fingers can actually clog the small pores in the stone.

Carbonation in 3 days not weeks!
I used this diffuser stone with a carbonation lid. I determined the diffusion pressure in water. The keg needs to be between 40 and 32 degrees. I started with the diffuser base pressure and increased by 2 or 3 psi every 1/2 hour. When I got to serving pressure (12 psi), I left the co2 going for 48 hours. My IPA was perfectly carbonated. The last IPA took weeks to reach suitable carbonation. I’m very happy with the stone.

Works Great
After chilling the full keg overnight, I started carbonating slowly using the .5 micron stone. After about 6 hours the keg was fully pressurized and I was able to pour a fully carbonated glass of beer.

This sure beats waiting 5-6 days for the keg to pressurize by simply applying full pressure.

Good product
Good not great, the good part is that it works as advertised, the not so good is that this diffuser stone is priced higher than average. As with any diffuser stone it is IMPERATIVE that you keep it clean before and after use or it WILL CLOG and not work any longer

Good performance
Great stone to oxygenate your wort when pitching, nice small bubbles. The barb eventually separated but I epoxied it back; used for 10 years and still performing.

Fast oxygenation of wort
I have been using one of these for the last 8 years to oxygenate wort at pitching time. The 0.5 micron will filter the oxygen and produce fine bubbles giving more surface area for diffusion. A must have if you use pure oxygen.

Breaks easily
Ordered one and after a few uses, the barb separated from the stone. Second one now seems clogged.
