Description

This is an agglomerated cork with solid end caps. An agglomerated cork is a cork that is composed of many small pieces that are pressed and adhered together. As the quality of cork has declined many wineries have begun to use alternative corks, such as synthetics or these agglomerated corks to insure a good seal in their wine. These corks offer the assurance of a good seal while at the same time allowing the breathing properties that solid corks offer. Agglomerated corks work best with floor corkers as they are hard to put in with hand corkers (they do not compress as much.)

Will these corks hold pressure?
Daniel Alvarez Castegnaro on Dec 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: These corks are designed to create a gas barrier between the wine and the outside world. As such they will hold a small amount of pressure. The end caps of the cork (The last 1/8th inch or so) are made up of much denser cork than the cores, so we do not recommend using these corks with only a portion of the cork inside the bottle as that will limit the longevity of the cork and the oxygen barrier it creates. If your bottles are able to hold pressure then you may go ahead and try it and see how well they do.
