Designed to work with the Ranco Digital temperature controllers (Johnsons will not fit).  These allow you to control the core temperature of your fermentation instead of the air around the carboy.

BEST ANSWER: Yep! Fits a glass carboy 5 and 6.5 gal. Also fits my wide mouth plastic betterbottle or whatever it's called.

Leaks when using a blow-off hose
It works well as a thermowell, but leaks when using blow-off hose in a jug of sanitizer. Was kinda frustrating because I thought my yeast were getting off to a very sluggish start with krausen forming, but no bubbles. Swapped it out with an airlock and stopper, and, voila, it's bubbling away.
