Description

The Temp Twister Cooling Coil installs easily on all models of FermZilla fermenter and can be used with virtually any fermenter with an opening diameter of 4-3/8" or wider. The inlet and outlet of the coil are extra long so the coil can be used with every sized FermZilla. In order to cut them to an appropriate length for your application, we recommend this compact pipe cutter.

To install, simply drill two 22 mm holes into the lid of the fermenter and use the included Duotight bulkhead fittings to attach the coil to the lid. The FermZilla will still be pressurizable after installing the Temp Twister, just be careful to drill the holes no wider than needed to fit the Duotight bulkheads.

Specifications:

  • Coil Diameter - 4.33"
  • Coil Height - 14"
  • Overall Length - 26.75"
  • Tubing Diameter - 3/8" OD
  • Made from 304 Stainless Steel
  • Includes 2 x 9.5 mm Duotight bulkheads

Kegland Part number: KL14618

If duotight fittings when used on the Fermzilla still allow for pressurization to 35psi?
Roderick Templen on Feb 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I'm pressure fermenting now at about 20psi with an earlier leak test with N2 at 25psi, so things might be bit leakier at 35psi. My experience is that the duotight connections seal just fine against the coil. The place to worry about is the connection to the Femzilla lid, where the O-ring is compressed by the big nut. I used keg lube on the ring and threads and that helped. The remaining leak was around a liter of N2 per hour at 25psi, which I decided was low enough for pressure fermentation.
If I go with this insulated tubing, can you please explain how it would connect to the Fermzilla Temp Twister Coil ends? The page only mentions 9.5mm duotight which I am unsure how to insulate? https://www.morebeer.com/products/temp-twister-cooling-coil.html

Will this fit in a 30L Speidel fermenter?
Richard Hogg on Apr 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Answering my own question, yes, it fits. Just drill two holes in the lid (about halfway between the center hole and the rim) and install. You'll probably want to cut the inlet & outlet a little shorter.
Will this work on a one barrel fermenter and glycol chilling system?
Roger Hillestad on Feb 2, 2021
BEST ANSWER: You could use it for that, if your opening is big enough. The coil is about 4.75” in diameter so it won’t fit in a 4” tri clover opening unless you twist it in like a screw. Not ideal to do that
can you cold crash with this and an ice bath?
Clarence Tenley on Nov 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I use a thermo efficient cooler and an aquarium pump to get to initial yeast operations temp. I warm it up near the end then added ice to cold crash with works great for me.
Will this work with a FermZilla All Rounder Fermenter - 7.9 gal?
Taylor Sandfer on Sep 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It worked perfectly with myFermZilla conical fermenter. Basically as long as you have 14 inches of space from the lid to the bottom of the fermenter you should be good from that issue. I had to drill two holes in the "lid" of the fermenter, so as long as you have that capability you should be good to go. I hope this helps!
I'm purchased this twister with the thermowell and pre-drilled lid for my Fremzilla All-Rounder. Haven't used it yet but during assembly:

1) Looks like the thermowell will be very close to, if not crash into, the chilling coil. I'm worried this will cause the system to short cycle. I notice the Kegland video does not show both the coil and thermowell installed at the same time. Have users had issues with this?

2) For my short All-rounder the lid gets pushed pretty far down the twisters straight in/out tubes. They look very splayed to me like the distance between the tubes is too short. Does this still seal at the bulkhead o-ring or did others try to bend the pipes to make them more parallel through the lid?

Thanks - excited to get this up and running!

FermZilla Thermowell w/ Duotight Bulkhead - 23.6 in.
FermZilla Thermowell w/ Duotight Bulkhead - 23.6 in.
BEST ANSWER: I cannot address the second question, but in my use of the temp twister on the big mouth bubbler, I had the temp thermowell and coils. I sanitized a rubber stopper and added it to the end of the temp thermowell, so that it didn’t touch the coils directly.
Is there space on the tri-clamp lid to accommodate the "Temp Twister Cooling Coil" (FE139)? The photo is pretty dark but I think I see enough space to drill a couple holes and fit the coil.

Super effective!
This worked so much better than I'd imagined. I have it hooked up to my Ink Bird temp controller and cold crashing my beer was a breeze.

Simple, stainless, easy to set up, not just for Fermzilla products.
Coupled with the Fermzilla 30L, temp control is a breeze. I use a lot of Kveik and 95-100F fermentations is easy even in a freezing cold garage! I'll prob use these no matter what time of year.

Using for HERMS and fermenting coil
Since the 7 gallon brew bucket fits on the digiboil and I basically am using my digiboil as a HLT, I figured out I can use this coil as a HERMS coil AND a temp control coil in my brew bucket since they share the same lid. I didn't want to drill any holes in the side of my digiboil so I punched some holes in my brew bucket lid, added some 3/8 compression to 1/2" NPT fittings and was able to make a multifunctional lid! Brewed my first batch yesterday and it was a successful test!

Fantastic quality. Works like a champ.
This chiller can cool 11 gallons of wort at 1 degree F a minute or better. With a Fermzilla jacket, it had no problem maintaining 67F in a 90F garage using an Inkbird/pump combo with a copper coil exchanger and ice in an Igloo cooler. The pump only kicked on every 1.5 to 2 hours for a minute or so. I have no doubt it can crash a batch to 35F. Fantastic product.

Awesome Chiller
This is an extremely versatile chilling coil, easily adaptable to almost any fermentor. I also plan to use it a cold serving coil inside my custom jockey box. And there is no way you can beat this price, especially for stainless.

steam heating coil
Excellent workmanship and value. I'm using it for a flash steam boiler coil. The SST holds up very well to the high heat and produces a lot of steam. The copper coils I was using kept blowing out from the high heat but the SST coil makes for an excellent flash steam boiler! I'm using a multi orifice propane burner.

Works well as expected.
Using this to lager in a 6 gallon bucket. Just needed to drill two holes into the lid which was very simple. I have a blanket wrapped around the bucket and a pump in a water bath maintained at 40F. The setup has maintained my lager to within +/- .5F of 50F (set point on inkbird) for the last week. So it's definitely working well. I tested with propylene glycol as well, and encountered no problems using it with this system.

I have a big mouth bubbler as well. I'll be buying a spare lid and drilling it at some point.
