Glass & Plastic Carboys
Used as both fermenters and storage containers, carboys are the work horses of the winery! Our traditional glass carboy is available in 1, 3, 5, and 6 gallon sizes to cover a wide variety of tasks (such as safely storing topping wines or running small experimental batches). Matching sizes of stoppers and airlocks are available in our Stoppers, Airlocks & Carboy Accessories section.In addition to glass, we also offer a plastic 5 and 6 gallon plastic carboy as well. This is not your usual plastic! These are made out of special polyethylene terephthalate copolymer (PET) plastic and are BPA-free, DEHP-free, and plasticizer-free. This means:
- The carboy is very strong (it will not break if dropped when full of liquid!)
- Taste and odor-free, they will not absorb or impart any color or odors.
- Essentially impermeable to oxygen
- Light weight
- This special PET formula is "hydrophobic" (non-wetting), which means it is extremely easy to clean
