Description

Put something unique on tap with this easy to make Pear Cider Kit.  This cider has a sweet mellow pear flavor and is a great change of pace.

Formulated with only the freshest and best quality fruit which is then pressed and concentrated using state of the art evaporators, and then cold filled into a pouch. All this effort we go to ensures we preserve the natural flavour of the fruit, giving you cider which is fresh, crisp and especially good on a hot summer's day.

  • ABV Approx: 4.7%
  • Style: Sweet
  • Colour: Clear Gold

Please Note: You will need 2.2 lbs of Dextrose for this kit as well.  See our You Might Also Need Section below for products.

These kits are tasty uncarbonated, but add some bubbles and things get even better.  We recommend a pack of Carbonation Drops to help give this cider a carbonic kick!

Not everybody loves beer. It’s nice to have another option on the tap lineup.

is this only concentrate pear juice sufficient for 5 gallons?
Sal Coco on Apr 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have made several of these ciders and I always yield 6.5 U.S. gallons each. Also, I use White Labs English Dry Cider yeast for a faster start time.
does this kit come with yeast? if so what kind?
Matt Shrader on Jun 23, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it comes with their proprietary MO2 dry cider yeast
Is this pear cider all pear concentrate or is it mixed juice?
Jon Davison on Jan 31, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I made the pear-strawberry last fall and it was absolutely delicious. I don’t know for certain if the pear concentrate is 100 percent ALL pear fruit. But, I do know if it’s anything like the pear-strawberry I made, it should be great!
Hope this helps!

Pretty Tasty
After I topped up to 6 gallons, my OG was right on their specs, it attenuated as expected and actually ended up exactly at 4.7 ABV as per their prediction. Activity was visibly over in 5 days, but I left it in primary for 7 before kegging four of the six gallons and racking two gallons onto a pound and a half of mangoes I had in the freezer. Keg is still clearing up a week in, but taste is good, crisp, with some peary hints. A little more conditioning time will serve it well. Pay attention to the instructions on if you want dry, off-dry, or sweet. I went sweet this time (adding the whole packet) and it is pretty darn sweet, too sweet for my tastes, but that was my fault on this one.

Easy to make and refreshing
My wife was baffled as to why I would brew this since we normally do not drink ciders, but I like the taste of pears and I thought this would make for a good "lawn mowing" brew this summer. I brewed it on April 23rd and my airlock was active around 17 hours later. Three or four days later, there was a distinct sulphur smell from the airlock which persisted for several days. I bottled the cider 8 days later and used the carbonation drops for priming. I tried one after about 10 days and the sulphur smell was still apparent in the nose, and there wasn't much for carbonation. I tried another at the 3 week mark and it had improved considerably; the sulphur was greatly diminished (and disappeared altogether by week 4) and the brew was effervescent. I doubt I will make this again because I have learned so much more about making "real" cider since then, but for a relatively easy pear cider, this did the trick! I gave it 4 stars since this product wasn't necessarily intended to replace a pear cider using fresh ingredients.
