BEST ANSWER: Yes, you will need both the 1/4" swivel nut and the 1/4" barb fitting. You will probably have to warm up the end of tubing by dipping the last 3 cm into hot water (use a microwave to heat water in a cup) to be able to insert the barbed in easily. Otherwise it is a struggle to push the barb into room temperature tubing.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. The nut tightens the barb to the disconnect. I have these on all of my connections so I can take the disconnect off the beer line for easy cleaning.
Does this tailpiece fit into flare fittings for ball lock/pin lock disconnects?

BEST ANSWER: No, the barb you will need for the flare fitting is KEG604 which has a 1/4'' barb or you can use KEG640 that has a 5/16'' barb and is already fixed with a swivel nut. Remember to use one of the flare fitting washers.
