Mead, or honey wine, is the world's oldest alcoholic beverage. It is easy to imagine that at some point in history a urn of honey got diluted with water and through the magic of natural yeast, was fermented into mead. We can only guess that whomever owned that urn was suddenly very popular!
Thousands of years later it is still just as simple to make, requiring a minimum of equipment. The beautiful part about making mead is that high quality honey is available year around and you can easily ferment mead with the winemaking equipment you already have.
