Description

The Buon Vino Super filler for winemaking is a gravity fed bottle filler that shuts off automatically when the proper fill height is reached in each bottle. Very easy to use and perfect for small quantities.  A great choice when you want something more sophisticated than the tube style bottle fillers, but don't need to upgrade to a more expensive electric wine bottle filler.

Gravity Filler Animation

Usage: To use the filler, place the device on top of the bottle to be filled, insert the intake tube into your vessel containing the liquid, and the small overflow tube into an empty bottle. To begin the siphon, start by pressing down on the center plunger on the flow regulator to open the valve.  Suck on the end of the overflow tube until the liquid begins to flow into the bottle. When liquid is flowing into the bottle, put the overflow tube back into the empty bottle. When the liquid reaches the top of the bottle, the valve will shut the flow off automatically.

After the first bottle, check the level of the fill and adjust the level up or down if necessary by moving the rubber bottle seal up or down. Please note that the fill level can be affected by excessive foaming. After one bottle is filled, move the bottle filler to another empty bottle, push down on the plunger lever, and repeat.

Comes with 6 ft. of tubing.

Can this be used with a pump (and if so, how much pressure can it withstand) or is it gravity feed only?
Stephen Craig Watts on Apr 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This bottle filler is designed to be gravity fed only, and not intended to be used with a pump.
When I used it wine spilled out the top under the overflow tube. Am I using it wrong or is mine defective?
Jean P on Jul 21, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Hi Jean Paul,
I not a fan of this device. I wasted a lot of time trying to get it adjusted right. It would work for a bottle or two, then the fill level would change. It's laying around somewhere in my cellar. Anyway, to your question. If wine is flowing out the overflow, then the level adjustment screw is too tight. When the bottle is full you should see the value popup/close. You should get a small amount of overflow. Hope this helps.

If I had it to do over I would have returned it.

Cheers!
Larry

Leaked when "shut off"
Great idea and I saw good reviews on YouTube...but the product I received leaked when the valve shut off. So, that kind of defeats the auto-fill function. So, I would just recommend the old fashioned spring fill wands.

Try with water first and make a few changes
Try with water first. That comment is probably not required.

I tried starting the siphon as suggested in the instructions. Forget about. Pull the white cap off and the wire out of the intake hose, and then attach an easy siphon. This will save you much pain.

Next the overflow hose has been wrapped around the assemble so long it will not straighten out. It stays curled like a snake and every time you move the filler it will pull the bottle over. Pull the overflow hose off and straighten it first.

After making these changes I was able to start the filling process. The set screw adjustment controls the flow and cutoff. Too tight and it will not turn off the flow, too loose and it leaks worse than normal when moving from bottle to bottle. It takes some time to get it set properly.

Buon Vino Super Auto Bottle Filler seems to work OK once you get it sorted out. The fill level is pretty consistent if all of your bottles are identical.

I haven’t tried with wine yet, and I may not. The bottle filling wand is look pretty good now, easy to use and clean.

No wine was consumed before attempting to use the Buon Vino Super Auto Bottle Filler. However, it was required afterwards.

Cheers!

Accurate filling
For small quantity of bottle filling, it's a great to be able to fill to the same fill level each time. Not fast, but consistent. Takes a little time to get into the rhythm.

Perhaps Mine Is Faulty
The height of your source tank makes a difference for setting the regulator. If the source tank is too low, filling is very slow but easier to control. Raising the source tank fills bottles faster, but the regulator is more sensitive. Worse than that, however, there appears to be a couple deformations on the rubber stopper out of which wine continues to dispense after the valve is closed to stop the main flow into the bottle. This causes problems maintaining fill height and squirts wine all over while transferring the filler to the next bottle. Since no other review mentions this, perhaps my filler is faulty.

*UPDATE 06/12/2020*
Morewine graciously sent a replacement free of charge, and I was recently able to use it to bottle five cases of wine. This unit did not have the deformations on the tip noted in my original review. The shut off worked perfectly, and there was no leakage when transferring to the next bottle to be filled as experienced with the previous unit. I use the Morewine FIL40 filter kit; unfortunately, the gravity feed does not seem sufficient to utilize the filter kit with the bottle filler. I overcame this by filtering from one carboy to another using my Blichmann WineEasy vacuum pump to assist in drawing the wine through the filter kit. For the advertised purpose, I would now rate the Buon Vino Super Auto bottle filler five stars, with the caveat that it be used in the advertised manner.
