Description

Filter your tap water and eliminate that no-win decision of "should I buy expensive bottled water or use the chlorinated water from the tap." This water filter kit features a 10" carbon block filter that removes all chlorine and organic flavor. Kit includes 10" housing, one carbon block filter, garden hose attachment, barbed fittings and 6' of 3/8" vinyl tubing. The carbon block should be replaced after filtering approximately 800 gallons of water or after 1 year of use, whichever comes first. Filter should be disassembled and stored dry when not in use.


NOTE: This product should not be used in hot water applications. Cold water only!

This product includes a carbon filter and is designed to filter water only (Carbon filters should not be used to filter beer or wine).

Can this be hooked up to a sink faucet? What adapter would you need?

BEST ANSWER: The unit threads on to a water faucet; think outdoor water faucet. Most kitchen and bathroom faucets aren't threaded that way. But some utility sink faucets are threaded. Mine is not. I created a work-around by disconnecting the cold water line to the washing machine and threading on the water filter in its place. It probably goes without saying, but if you do this work-around be sure to turn off the water to the washer connection before you take it apart.
Can this be used with well water?

BEST ANSWER: It can be used with any water. The more turbidity the sooner it gets full.
Does this remove both chloromine & chlorine?

BEST ANSWER: If you look at the item description for the water filter (included in this kit but also sold separately here) it states:
“We’ve been told by manufacturers that chloramines can be removed by carbon filtration if the water has a long contact time with the carbon. It is recommended to use at a fill rate of less than 1 gallon per minute in order to remove chloramines.”
Would this filter work after a water softener?

Water Filter Kit - 10 inch
Where I live city water has a horrible taste. I was tired of going to the store to buy water. This filter is a game changer for me. I attach it to my kitchen sink and fill by mash tum, HLT and drinking water dispenser. The only draw back is that you have to filter it slowly, less than a gallon a minute. So it takes about 10 minutes to filter enough water to make a batch. It is a small price to pay for good/ clean tasting water. The instructions say it is good for 800 gallons or 1 year. With the city water I have I guessing 600 gallons and 9 months, Still a good value for me.

Built very well. Solid case.
Time will tell. Used water to mash 2 batches of beer that are presently in fermenters. Water has clean taste with no chlorine. Unit is big with good flow. Also used to brew coffee with noticeable improvement in taste. Would recommend.

Water filter kit
I sold filtration systems for over 25 years. The filter & housing works very well. When you order please keep in mind that you need to open the housing, pull the filter & out unwrap it, & and pull the papers out. To remove the housing you’ll need a spanner wrench. I would also recommend replacing the polyvinyl tubing on the out line to silicone. The poly tubing can be very rigid and difficult to maneuver

Remove plastic wrap on filter before use
I didn't notice there was a plastic wrap over the filter inside the unit and no instructions. But overall I like how it works and was solid on first try.

Great unit. works as designed and well worth the money saved having to buy gallons and bottles of water. You honestly cannot go wrong. The only thing I may recommend is a longer outlet hose depending on if you are mounting it and how far you need to run it
