Description

For use with our FIL45 series of plate filters. These pads will provide between .3 - .5 Micron filtration. This pad is the right choice when you want to promote sterility in the bottle, although do please note that the pad does not remove 100% of bacteria - only an absolute rated .45 micron or less cartridge filter can do so.  Then why do we sell this pad? Some experienced winemakers who are familiar with their wine and who do not have a cartridge filter use this pad to remove most ml bacteria, making it less likely that an unwanted ML fermentation takes place in the bottle.

Each filter pad set is good for approximately 5 gallons of wine when the wine has already been filtered by the polish pads. These pads are disposable.

Can't be sure they work?
I think the pad(s) are working, (they get dirty). The whole system leaks like a sieve. I lose more beer than I actually filter. There are serious engineering and construction flaws with this system. I WOULD NOT recommend this garbage to an enemy let alone a fellow brewwer.

Good filters
Typically I don't bother filtering beer as the added benefit doesn't seem worth the expense. But when I want a clearer, more commercial-grade look these filters do the trick.

Makes the beer look so clear
It is amazing how much yeast is still present even when one thinks that no filtering is required.

Makes the beer clear, but clogs easily. I transfer from the connical through the filter into the keg. Near the end of the xfer, the CO2 pressure needs to be increased to push out the last gallon/litre

Slow transfer
I filtered with the rough pads before these sterile pads and I still could barely get any beer to flow through. I went to filtering cold with the polish pads once only and it is fine now.
