Is there a way to fit this inside a carboy cap?
Herbert Gorfinkle on Jul 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Probably need to drill the cap wider.. I don't recommend as the carboy cap is fitted for a 3/8" dia cane.
The carboy cap is very thin and will not be able to be expanded with a larger drill..

Reading a measuring tape is tough for some!
I ordered first 1/2” cane and a 3/8” cane showed up. So another was shipped. Customer service on the phone was great… but another 3/8” cane showed up again. I have been in contact again but my 1/2” one hasn’t showed up yet. The 3/8” are of good quality but doesn’t do me a whole lot of good.

Perfect.
The only 1/2 inch ID cane I could find. It works perfect with my 1/2 inch hose which I use to pump my wine while racking.

Racking Cane !!
The Racking Cane worked perfectly. We used to use a plastic hose tied at a few places to a long stick. We put the racking tube in the bung and clamped it with a wood clamp to hold at the proper depth. We try not to disturb any sediment (if any) until the very last of the barrel. We hooked up a tube from our bottler to the racking cane and it worked perfectly. Next time, we are going to make a simple fitting out of wood to hold the racking cane vertical and off the bottom of the barrel until we want to lower it down.

Great, wish it was 4 inches longer
A well made stainless racking cane. Price is very fair. I've recently upsized to 1/2 tubing for all of my wine making and I prefer the 30 inch length of the 3/8 stainless canes that I've been using.

So if this cane can come in a 30 inch length, I'll buy another. I do notice you make a tri-clamp 30 inch racking cane and I'm planning to purchase that in the near future.

Sturdy!
Nice arc in the top so liquid flows nice whiteout bubbles. I don't use the cap as I just zip tie a muslin bag over the opening but that's just how I do it. I'll have this thing for years. Hell if I'm ever brewing and someone broke in I could probably fend em off with my racking cane.

Indestructible
I purchased this after my twenty year old plastic racking cane broke during clean-up after a brew session. I expect this one to last until I die. It took some getting used to it though; I can't see the liquid in it like I could on my clear plastic one. The length is sufficient to reach into my largest carboy and the racking hose fit snugly without the need for a hose clamp.
