A 5 gallon glass carboy fermenter is great for secondary fermentations, or for making 5 gallons of mead/wine.  Essentially a 5 gallon glass jar, these glass carboys are made of thick, high quality lead-free glass, and are easy to keep clean since carboy brushes will not scratch the interior.

Its a (car)BOY!
Works perfectly for my secondary. I don't use it for all brews, but I have started using it more often for clarity.

Standard brewing equipment
I have several of these now, but started off with one in my beginners kit. After 17 years, I consider this great for secondary fermentations. Just don't drop em.

5 Gal Carboy..
Using this Carboy for my estate Zinfandel, so it stands out among the rest of the pack of 6.5 Gal Carboys I also have...this is by far the most handsome looking carboy I have....and it is glass.

Worked great
Performed my first secondary fermentation in the carboy last month and everything turned out great. Great product for a great price!

I use this one for secondary and for fermenting batches of cider. Works like a charm.

Perfect Home Fermenter
While most suggest leaving headspace (using a 6 gallon carboy for a 5 gallon batch), I fill my 5 gallon carboy right up to the 5 gallon line and put drops of foam reducer in. With a 1.070 and up beer I might need a blow off hose, otherwise, never had a problem.

Perfect for extended aging
Prior to purchasing the spiedel fermenters, this was my go to option for extended aging of imperial stouts/ Belgians. Only had one glass carboy accident before, and thankfully there wasn't an ER story to go with it.
